About the Bright Futures Farm
Bright Futures Farm: A Sanctuary for Horses and Cats
Address: 238 Old Franklin Pike Rd, Cochranton, PA 16314, United States
Bright Futures Farm is a trusted and well-respected 501(c)(3) equine rescue and sanctuary located in Cochranton, Pennsylvania. Since its inception in 2000, Bright Futures Farm has been dedicated to saving horses from abuse, abandonment, neglect, and slaughter. The organization provides placement assistance for horses in need and offers a permanent sanctuary for elderly and disabled horses that have been discarded due to their age, illness, or perceived lack of value.
In 2002, Bright Futures Farm expanded its mission to include an on-site sanctuary for stray and feral cats. The farm also provides educational services to the community, promoting awareness and understanding of animal welfare issues.
Bright Futures Farm has been a trusted charity since 2000 and is accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) since 2014. This accreditation signifies that the organization is transparent, uses funds wisely, and provides excellent care for the horses at their facility. The TAA conducts regular inspections of the farm’s books and facilities to ensure compliance with their high standards.
The farm relies solely on donations from individuals like you for support, as it receives no funding from state or federal agencies. Your financial contributions provide the food, medications, and care necessary to keep the horses and cats healthy and comfortable in their golden years. Many of the farm’s senior residents live well into their thirties, thanks to the exceptional care they receive.
Donations can be made as one-time gifts or as monthly sponsorships for individual horses or cats. These contributions help provide essential medications, supplements, and treatments such as chiropractic care and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) to ensure the animals’ well-being.
Bright Futures Farm is known for providing an excellent quality of life for very elderly animals. As of 2023, the youngest horse at the farm is 23 years old, and the oldest is 34. The youngest cat is 13, and the oldest is 20. Each animal is treated as an individual, with personalized medical and nutritional care plans.
The farm also participates in programs like Chewy’s donation initiative, where a qualified purchase can result in a $20 donation to Bright Futures Farm. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the farm continues to thrive thanks to the generosity of its supporters.
The 2019 Open House event at Bright Futures Farm was a huge success, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond. The event featured gift basket raffles, a 50-50 raffle, and the opportunity to meet Trusted Company, the daughter of the legendary Secretariat.
Bright Futures Farm is accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and has achieved Platinum status with GuideStar, confirming its legitimacy, reputation, finances, and governance. The farm is also verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
Each month, Bright Futures Farm depends on tax-deductible donations, sponsorships, and grants to continue its mission. The organization’s honesty and transparency are the foundation of its support, and financial records and donor testimonials are available for review through GuideStar and Network for Good.
By supporting Bright Futures Farm, you are helping to provide a safe, dignified retirement for senior horses and cats. Your donations truly make a difference in the lives of these deserving animals. Please consider making a one-time donation or becoming a monthly sponsor to help Bright Futures Farm continue its vital work.

Reviews of Bright Futures Farm
"I've visited Bright Futures Farm several times over the last 4 years. I have a wonderful visit every time. I would visit more often if I didn't live 9 hours away, but I like to try to visit every year. The owner is always welcoming to me and I get to spend real quality time with the horses and always allowed to take all the photos and video I want. I also make sure I always visit when it is inline with the horses schedule though! These are senior horses and require a lot of special care and attention. It is obvious these animals are well-cared for and very much loved. They love interacting with people. This is a farm, not a theme park. The horses rule the place and we have to be ok with working around what they need first and foremost on visiting. Looking forward to visiting again!"
"**update** at no point did this woman "ask" for anything. From our 1st interaction, she was rude and condescending which turned into threats, demands and ultimatums. From there she tried to blackmail me. A police report has been filed. She doesn't know how to speak to people and thinks she can make demands to someone she hasn't ever met. All because she "thinks" she's uncovered something that clearly doesn't exist."
