"I used to go to Dave's because they were the only shop I could trust. I went back for the first time after they switched ownership and became DPA Service and I will never go back. I am female bodied and young, so many shops in the past have taken advantage of me. Due to this I educated myself on my vehicle, how to do most repairs myself, the parts and how they function, whats needed for state inspection and emissions. Prior to this experience I had only good experiences here and I hoped under female ownership they would understand the struggle of finding a mechanic that a female bodied person can trust. They bet on me not knowing anything about my car/cars in general and for my state inspection tried to get $700 out of me for a transmision and engine mount, without showing the reason for this service needing to be done to pass inspection. The only requirements for these for state inspection is if they are broken, cracked or missing and you know immediately if something is wrong with one; youre vehicle is very unsafe and not quiet about it. They also would not give me a breakdown of the cost of parts and labor, this is usually on average a $300 service with the parts included from my knowledge and research not $700, and lastly on the invoice showing I declined the service it instead shows two transmission mounts and this is where they finally showed that it was for "excessive movement". Not required for state inspection as they lied to me that it was. They tried to scare me into paying a exuberant price for a service not necessary on my vehicle. I went to different shop that I was reffered to by a trusted friend and they confirmed there was no need for this service to be done and that they were trying to take advantage of me. I will never in my life recommend anyone, especially another female bodied person come here. Ever."
"I went here with my daughter’s car. They wanted 750 dollars to fix her exhaust. Didn’t even hear or bring up the heat shield issue. An o2 sensor shouldn’t cost that much and honestly it’s a 10 min thin and the part costs 240 dollars! if they would have fixed the main issue it didn’t need an O2 sensor. All they did was running it on a computer didn’t even really look at it! Took it to another place and it was $90 dollars and fixing the heat shield since then no issues with and O2 sensors! Do not go here unless you want unnecessary repairs! I will never go here I found A& J auto in Milton fixed everything ! 90 dollars! How did it go from $750 at Dave’s to $ 90 at A&J?? No lights on dash for as much as I paid for the diagnostic I could of paid for it at A&J a long time ago!"
"Our college student son had his SUV towed to Dave’s and was quoted over $6k worth of repairs. We had our son’s car towed back to NY for our mechanic to look at it. Much of the information Dave quoted was false. They quoted my son $1,034 for new breaks- his car had brand new brakes on it and our mechanic verified they were brand new. Daves quoted $380 for rear shocks- our mechanic found them to be in good condition. Daves quoted our son $334 for a transmission flush…. on a sealed system! Daves quoted our son $814 for a fuel shield- our mechanic found it unnecessary. Shame on you to try to take advantage of a college student and out-of-state parents! Dave’s quoted almost $6k worth of work was needed, over $4,500 in unnecessary work (I didn’t list everything of their ridiculous list of false claims on their quotes). The SUV has been repaired for $1,700 of necessary items after the cost of towing and gas, a rental car for our son while home for his Thanksgiving break, and an unnecessary trip to pick him up from college when it’s been made clear to us by our mechanic and several others that the SUV was able to be driven home! College students and parents beware!!!"
"I had a flat during a road trip a few weeks ago and I chose this shop because it was the one closest to my location at the time. However, I was so impressed by them that I felt compelled to write a review. They are very professional and very polite. Considering that I had 9 more hours of driving ahead of me, they went out of their way to have me back on the road as fast as possible. The waiting room was also in excellent condition with free coffee and snacks. So considering the unlucky moment, I got lucky to go there. Highly recommended."
"I went to Dave's Pro Auto because they were a service provider for my new to me car's warranty. At the first contact they were very professional and friendly. They were able to get my car in the next day. They provided warranty work on my vehicle and it was done quickly and correctly. I love the fact that they kept in daily contact via text message & kept me updated. When I texted with questions they got back to me within a very acceptable amount of time. I will utilize their services again."
