Reviews
"A fine monument to the lives lost in the battle from my current home state. A lot of lives overall were lost in the battle and so every state that lost lives built something to honor them and this one for New York is one of my favorites. It is a nice spot that offers shade on a hot summer day. You should try to find a marker for every state while you are here to give the respect for all those who died."
"This is the first monument you see when you enter the Soldiers National Cemetery (which is the battlefield). It is huge, lovely and sobering. There is a plaque as you walk towards it that asks for silence and respect. Very sobering. You feel the history here. Entrance to the cemetery/battlefield is free."
"Rest in peace to all those from New York who died at Gettysburg"
"This is the monument that the State of New York dedicated to the over 6700 officers and soldiers from the state who were casualties of the Battle of Gettysburg. It is adorned with a bronze figure placing a wreath over the fallen soldiers. One of the tallest monuments on the battlefield at 94 feet tall. This monument was dedicated in July of 1893."
"Very impressive state monument in the Soldiers National Cemetery."
