"Hello Historians! My name is Brian Katana, I'm for real & id like to share my experiences & thoughts regarding the Beaver County Historical Research Society. To begin a lil bout me...no, im not a Doctor...i didnt win a Noble Peace Prize...lol u get the idea. Im just a guy who was raised by two of the greatest parents ever and they taught me, amongst other things, to respect life, to respect others & above all..to respect one self, that includes learn from history & past mistakes because, if we dont learn from our past history mistakes, we are doomed to repeat it. And that is why im here...for the past couple of years now, ive contributed to the BCHRS & i feel it's very important that all of you understand why this Historical Society is a crucial part of not only Beaver County, but also a crucial part of our past, and we need to continue to support the Beaver County Historical Research Society. Here is one example...a few weeks ago i was talking with my Godson, a real good dude, hes 16 years old...i was explaining to him about history of the area and even things when i was a kid, he had no idea of anything, about when the Beaver Valley Mall opened in 1970...hell he didnt know how to operate a rotary telephone, not to mention what a phone booth was. It's these small examples is why i feel its important to keep supporting the BCHRS so the new generation of people knows what life was like back in the day & how it shaped this County today. In conclusion im asking all of you to one day stop in the BCHRS in Freedom & browse around, it is very fascinating. Ive come to know a Ms. Brenda Applegate, she is one of the hardworking & passionate Directors who really takes pride in Beaver County's History. Again if you can donate to this organization, whether its money or antique Beaver County Items in your home that you dont mind parting, i know they will appreciate it...plus if you think about it, that one item in your home can shape the future of Beaver County's youth.
