"I am just beginning to fully grasp the extent of Dr Schwartz lack of care and empathy. I became a patient of his when attacked by Crohn’s and was hospitalized. He prescribed a regimen of Remecade, which initially worked. However, the Covid shot I received made the treatment cease working. I became deathly ill, and lost over fifty pounds. I began sending daily updates on my health status. The response I got was from a receptionist, who told me to begin taking Imodium. From there, I began calling. Dr Schwartz did not return any of my calls. I became weaker and sicker, and did not get any response. I needed to get life flighted to a hospital, and needed surgery to remove 18” of my colon. I was told if I had not checked myself into a hospital, I would have died. I still never heard from Dr Schwartz, who was my primary GI. I eventually sent an email letting him know I was releasing him as my primary GI. Again, no response. Caveat emptor. Proceed with caution. It is your life."
"I was so excited my first appointment I really thought I found a doctor to care and knew what he was doing. I'm a new patient who has been extremely sick, it takes days and days to try and get a hold of nurse or Dr. When I finally get another video visit as I haven't been seen in person yet I was astounded when this doctor not only turned down a diagnosis I was previously given and try medically gaslighting me and here is the best part. He didn't know I didn't have a galbladder....I haven't had one since 2011 and in my initial appointment I told him I've been sick since my gallbladder was removed and he still didn't know, nor did he know that I had multiple ercps with sphincterotomies again which were not only discussed prior but IN MY CHART. The moment I realized he didn't even know me as a patient I lost all respect and faith in him as a doctor."
"Dr. Schwartz is very thorough in identifying and treating problems as they come up. My previous GI had basically left me untreated for years. After meeting with Dr Schwartz during an admission from an ER visit he had me on meds and a plan to getting healthier. Finally 2 years later I can say there is no active Crohns at the moment. Dr. Schwartz always explains treatment options and gives his opinion but lets the final decision up to me. He takes time to listen to my questions and concerns and explains the answers. I recommend him to anyone that I can."
"I can not say enough positive things about this man. For the first time since being diagnosed with my GI disease (2014) I feel like I’m actually being listened to and my disease is being treated. I have not had one issue with him or either of his offices (Presby and Shadyside). I feel as if he has utilized all that he can to make sure I’m getting the best care. I now have a therapist and a nutritionist that I never had before. He’s very honest and doesn’t sugar coat any thing and I can appreciate that . He gave me his undivided attention and plenty of time during my office visit. I’m so happy to have him as my Dr, I’m not sure where I’d be without him."
"As a patient on and off for 4 years, he can be okay at certain times. However, actually treating and listening to how a patient feels is not how he particularly operates. I was told to wait till my office visit. For almost 2 weeks and meanwhile I lost 8 pounds in two weeks and could no longer stand up. Not so great advice. These pictures show the difference when I was diagnosed how thin I was for 7 months. And it took a year before anything was done. I move out of state due to Dr. Schwartz not trying an agressive treatment."
