Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Pahys was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his grandmother, a pioneering pediatrician who practiced for over five decades.

Dr. Pahys's personal journey with scoliosis and spinal surgery as a teenager fueled his passion for orthopedics. His experiences as a patient, including wearing a back brace and undergoing surgery to remove a spinal tumor, have given him a unique perspective and empathy for his patients. Remarkably, he recovered quickly enough to start his college basketball career at Johns Hopkins University just months after his surgery.

After completing his medical education at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Pahys undertook his internship and residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He further specialized with a fellowship in orthopedic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. His training included a significant stint at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia, where he witnessed the transformative impact of specialized pediatric care, solidifying his commitment to this field.

Since 2010, Dr. Pahys has been an integral part of the Shriners Children’s spine team. His role allows him to provide top-tier care to patients locally and internationally, regardless of their background. He collaborates closely with centers in Erie, PA, and Greenville, SC, ensuring the most comprehensive care for his patients.

Dr. Pahys holds an adjunct clinical associate professor position at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, contributing to the education and training of future medical professionals. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Pahys enjoys hiking national parks with his wife, three children, and their Great Dane, Stella.
