"I came here with very bad pain in my toe due to an ingrown toenail. When I checked in I was asked how much I rated my pain, I said a 9 out of 10. I warned the staff that I didn't have insurance and that meant I went there because I was really in pain. I waited in line for more than 2.5 hours, after which the PA examined me, made a small puncture in the wrong place and said that there was no abscess. We convinced that I was in pain and needed surgery but I was sent home after prescribing an ointment. At home, I punctured the skin myself and a lot of pus came out, which means that there was an abscess and the PA did not specifically remove it. I refuse to pay for such a rude and indifferent attitude towards my health."
"One of the worst experience in an emergency room I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Waiting multiple hours only to be told to move to another place to wait with the only thing to show for it is one pill, this emergency room is living proof of how our health care system is failing us, if all it takes to become part of the health profession is to give people drugs then we might as well give drug dealers doctors degrees"
"Been here with my mother since 530 it is now 10:30 pm and still have not seen a Dr. Still in waiting room over hearing ppl say they have been here since 2 and still have not been seen this is INSANE!! Never again!!! If u have an emergency go somewhere else!!! UPDATE: it is now 2:38am and we are still waiting.....update we waited 27 hrs in ER before she got to a room"
"I used to SWEAR by Saint Vincent hospital. I stopped going to Hamot years ago because of how bad it is. Now St V is just as bad if not worse!! I used to get the BEST treatment here! Now its nothing but super long waits, super rude staff (and WHERE are the REAL DOCTORS?!?!), neglecting patients, they refuse to listen to you or take what you have to say in consideration much less take it seriously.. and SHOVE you out the door! EVERY SINGLE TIME I leave this hospital, Im angry, frustrated, bawling my eyes out, because I didnt get ANY of the care I needed and im left suffering, looking for another way to actually GET the treatment I need. Because theres NO hospitals left in this city!!! We have 3 in this whole city, and NOT ONE is worth a second of time! Im really tired of fighting for my healthcare as a woman as it is.. let alone having to fight to get ANY treatment at all and just to be treated like a human being! On so many instances ive been prescribed medication, and not told its actually mucinex or some other expensive OTC medicine that the insurance will not cover. You dont find this out until you leave and spend time at the pharmacy trying to fill the scripts. You call the ER back to get the prescriber to change it and all they do is talk over you, fight and argue with you.. and refuse to change it or give you anything else. Theres so many times Ive walked out or even wanted to start screaming because I get these people that stand there looking at me going.. "well I dont know what to do for you.. what do you want me to do.. tell me what you think.. tell me what you want us to do for you.." Umm.. Im the patient, YOU are supposed to be treating ME, not the other way around. If you cant do this job, and you have to look to the pts to tell YOU what to do.. THIS JOB IS OBVIOUSLY NOT FOR YOU!!!! Go get a desk job somewhere.. go work at Walmart.. but do us all a favor and stay OUT of healthcare! Ive been in the field for 10 years and can do a better job with my eyes closed! After this last visit to the ER, I actually placed a call to a lawyer!! Im also calling the state and taking this to the next level. SOMEONE has GOT to do SOMETHING about this!!! Erie needs a MAJOR healthcare overhaul!!"
"I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been to an emergency room. I thank God that I make appointments if needed with my PCP. On Thursday afternoon I wasn’t feeling good. I had sinus issues. Congestion, headache, fatigued etc. I went to the ER on Saturday at around 5pm. It was the worst decision. I got to the first waiting area and was called back to triage within 15 minutes. There was only 2 other families before me. Went back to triage, got my vitals taken and went to the next area for a COVID/RSV testing that took about 2 minutes (if that!). The lady disappeared to take my test somewhere after she led me to the restroom for a urine sample (for a pregnancy test). I completed the test & came out of the restroom with the sample inside of a clear bag. I thought maybe someone would meet me near the door so I didn’t have to wait in the waiting area of the ER with it in my hand. Nope! I sat down for about 20 mins waiting with the bag visible and a guy that was at the computer nearby who finally said, “Uh, Whitney, have you had your chest x ray yet?” I told him no I didn’t, I wasn’t even told that I was getting a chest xray done. He then walked me to what I thought was going to be the xray room but it turned out to be a ER room, room 8 to be exact. The board said 11/3 and it was 11/5. Two nurses names that may/may not have been on the shift. I got called back to get the chest xray after maybe 30 mins of waiting in the room. After that was completed I got put back into the room. 1.5 had passed and the first person came in. She was a nurse and she asked about my symptoms. Looked at the computer and said everything looked good. She said she was not going to make me wait for the xray results because the pictures showed the lungs look good/clear. It was just a sinus infection. Saw that there were no vitals in the computer so she said she would have someone come in to do them. I also asked if someone would be in to take my urine sample I completed about 2 hours ago. She said yes. The girl came in to do vitals and took my sample. She never came back and the machine was left on me. Registration stopped in and asked about my insurance and still billed me and it shows that no insurance was listed but registration asked what type I had and I told specifically told them. Registration had me sign and said this signature is so we can bill the insurance. I had to wait another 20 mins before the last nurse came in to give me my discharge paperwork. I will not return unless it was my very last option!"
