Reviews
"Very patient and explained things we'll."
"Dr helwig has always been professional, gives a thorough exam - my husband’s eye doctor is supposed to be amazing and is not as thorough as dr. Helwig- and has helped me with really strange eye symptoms. Most of the staff comes off impersonal , a bit cool. I never waited more than 15-20 minutes. I don’t buy my glasses at their store as the prices are too high for me . I’ve been going there for about 10 years, and , at this time, will continue."
"Regrettably, while I would like to give this office many stars, I cannot do that: for sure, full service it is n o t. For 2 years I visited repeatedly with Dr. W. Helwig, one of Dr.Brodell's associates, for my discomfort in driving. While he prescribed an antibiotic cream and steroid drops for the eyes, I still had double vision. No matter: he just increased the strength of my glasses, which led me into an accident with an 18 wheeler on route 80. All this time I paid full price, $360.00 for 4 consecutive pairs of glasses: in all cases the frames were my own. Finally, I requested another doctor, and thus met Dr. Christopher D'Allito, who, after a cursory exam, explained that double vision is treated with prismatic glasses. No problem, I thought: they are "full service". As my parents and I had met Dr Brodell, there was no doubt in our minds that they will honour their regrettable shortcomings. After the accident, at the request of the Police, my G.P. had to write a letter to the DMV, explaining that apart from eye problems - currently under care by an ophthalmologist - I was fully healthy and capable of continuing to drive. AND YET! When I reminded their in- house optical store that given Dr. Helwig's serious misdiagnosis, I expected either a refund for the glasses paid for in full on each occasion, or a replacement of lenses for the 4 pairs erroneously issued me on the strength of Dr. Helwig erroneous 'dry eye' diagnosis, their reaction was neither amiable nor professional. The tone was raised dramatically and I was basically threatened. No refund! No lens replacement. No decency, to say nothing of professionalism. An experience I hope, you, reading this review, will be able to avoid. Eye sight is much too serious an issue to be treated with antibiotics and steroids or warm compresses, should you need none of these."
