"I believe this is actually the two state marker. I’m thinking Pennsylvania and Maryland by the PA and Me carved into the marker. The marker is very worn down and several people have added their own graffiti on it. The road to the marker is a challenge. Be wary if it has just rained."
"Interesting place and challenging road to get there. There's not much else there, but the current and correct Tri State marker is only a 5 minute walk away. If you like a little challenge, then go for it."
"The road to get to the stone was really bad, make sure you have an ATV or a high clearance vehicle (I am sure I did some damage to my car) The area gives the impression is not really on a public road and I felt like I was trespassing. The actual “current” cornerstone is also located on private land and you cannot get to it. Glad I saw it, but the photos others have posted would have been enough."
"Sinclair Stone Monument set by Cephas Hempstone Sinclair in 1885 as WV/MD border but disputed by MD and line moved slightly west by US Supreme Court in 1911, tricorner monument set in 1912. Cephas Sinclair set 88 monuments total along the Ellicott Line and Mason and Dixon Line. Three monuments have elevated significance and are physically different from the collection: Brown's Hill Stone PA/WV, Sinclair Stone PA/MD and the PA SW Cornerstone known as WV PA Sinclair Cornerstone PA/WV. The 1883-1885 resurvey of the two PA/WV boundary lines was the first survey to permanently mark famous borders that had been previously surveyed by notable scholars like Charles Mason, Jeremiah Dixon, Alexander McLean, Joseph Neville, Andrew Ellicott and David Rittenhouse. The temporary markings of 1767, 1782, 1784 and 1785 had suffered at the hands of man, nature and time, leaving them blurred and vulnerable to controversy. The Sinclair Stone collection has marked these lines for an impressive 141 years. **It is illegal to alter, damage, disturb, move and or vandalize any survey marker especially sites of historical significance.**"
"Even that it is and a “lost point”, it was great to reach it. It is actually a cairn, a stone with the names of the three states that meet there; Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. The so-called monument is 113 kilometers southwest of Pittsburgh, there, lost in the woods along a rocky, dirt road. It was not easy to get there, the GPS did not help. It worked better "by trial and error" and the position of the little sun that came through the trees on the road because in some sections it was a dark tunnel in the bush. But if the British could get to the point on horseback in the mid-1700s and place this stone, why couldn't it be reached by car today? In a symbolic ritual, at the same time that I stepped on the State of Maryland with my right and West Virginia with my left, I placed my left hand on Pennsylvania."
