Gastro Health’s Alexandria – Kenmore care center, formerly known as Gastroenterology & Hepatology Associates, P.C., is dedicated to providing the highest quality personalized care in gastrointestinal and hepatology disorders. Our state-of-the-art facility includes The Endoscopy Center, PLLC, which provides advanced outpatient endoscopic services. The center has achieved the highest level of recognition as an accredited facility by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., underscoring our commitment to excellence.
Please be aware that our parking garage entrance is currently undergoing maintenance to enhance your overall experience. Despite the construction, parking is still available. We appreciate your patience and recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your appointment to accommodate any potential delays.
One of our standout services is the Fast Track Colonoscopy, a procedure that eliminates the need for a prior consultation. This service is ideal for adults aged 45 or older with an average risk for colorectal cancer and no existing GI symptoms. Fast Track Colonoscopy saves patients time, money, and minimizes work absences.
For the safety and continuity of care, our policy requires that patients be seen at least annually for prescription refills, regardless of the medication prescribed.
After several decades of dedicated service, Dr. Barkin retired in December 2023. He plans to spend his retirement between Northern Virginia and San Diego, enjoying activities such as traveling, scuba diving, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Barkin is confident that his patients will continue to receive excellent care from his successor, Muhammad Khokhar, MD.

I got an Upper endoscopy and was super nervous for it but it was the easiest thing ever. I got my biopsy results less than a week after and was able to log right in to my account to access them. I thought the scheduling process was straightforward & they worked with me getting in sooner for my initial appointment and even my Endoscopy appointment. I have zero complaints!"
