"Worst set of schools in the entire United States They like to hold students hostage basically not giving them what they need to transfer to other schools outside of Alaska sadly the advisors don’t advise or advocate for students especially Native American students. My daughter was told she could take classes from all campuses and it would make one complete GPA but that was faulty information because that’s not what happened she ended up getting all As and her GPA should have been a 3.2… this was not the case… she ended up with a 2.9 at UAS…. 2.75 at UAA and 2.0 at UAF… non of these she can get into a better university with… and was told oh well if you spend $$$ we can over time get you where you want to be GPA wise… And was told by an advisor that “ Native students should just stay at native schools”"
"Attended for three years. Great and affordable for GERs but didn't have the degree program that I wanted. Realized this too late. Wonderful disability services and some really great faculty mixed in with some rather confused folks. It's a good university if you're just trying to get from point A to point B."
"UAS is great to attend in person. I did so for about 3 years. As soon as I moved to only online classes my advisor was less than helpful. After calling him and sending him soooo many emails I never heard a response. Because of him I was unable to start my fall classes this year and my scholarships were taken away. All because my advisor wouldn't take the time to reply to me. I had a hold on my account because I had switched to all online classes and needed my advisor to approve it. Because I had moved out of Juneau I couldn't just go in and find my advisor. None of the student resource centers were helpful either. UAS is a GREAT school..if you attend in person"
"Confused staff and educators that don't seem to care about the curriculum make this school the place to go if you're not particularly concerned about learning. A school that provides undergraduate research, and nothing else. Literally, nothing else; no tech program, no media program, no sports program, a vanishing art program...I could go on. Throughout my degree there were many times I would reflect and become sad; I felt like I was wasting my money, wasting my time, and not learning. I'm not saying it's going to be like this for everyone. I am just sharing my experience."
"A five star setting with dedicated leadership. This is the place where science, education and the outdoors can't help but collide and in turn create the science professionals we must have to be a resilient nation. The campus plan continues to be thoughtfully planned and executed."
