Reviews of 49'er Inn & Suites
"This hotel was perfect for my quick weekend trip to ski Jackson Hole. It's not the fanciest place, but the free breakfast is good, the hot tub wasn't crowded, and the bus service to the mountain was exceptionally convenient. No need to rent a car or take expensive ubers if you stay here. Use the $10 Start bus to get to/from the airport, take the free hotel shuttle for skiing, and walk to stores, bars, and restaurants in downtown Jackson within a couple blocks."
"Summary Version: Take pictures of the room when you arrive, I was charged $50 for damage that I did not cause and no notification of charge/information has been provided to me This place is obviously mismanaged Room was dated and not maintained Room was not very clean - stained bedsheets, etc. No maid service for 7 night stay due to not enough staff - had to go to lobby to replenish supplies Shuttle bus to/from Jackson Hole Report extremely crowded, college kids discussing inappropriate things in front of children, did not run very frequently Low end breakfast Buildings aren't connected - cold getting to room from pool Unfriendly staff Detailed Version: Make sure you are diligent with taking pictures of your room when you arrive here. There are some questionable practices at play here. When I got home from my trip, I saw there was a $50 charge on my credit card placed by the 49er that I did not recognize. This prompted me to call and they informed me the charge was for damage to a table in the room. We were very gentle with the room. There is no way we caused any damage. They didn't bother to notify me that they would be charging my card and when I asked for documentation they just told me to call back another time. I disputed the charge and 49er sent a picture of a damaged table to the cc issuer to challenge my dispute. The picture looked like a dog chewed it or it fell off of the back of the truck (we did not have a dog in the room with us). It would have taken a lot of force to cause that damage. I wonder how many people they have tried to charge for this damaged piece of furniture, which I don't believe was even in the room I stayed in. Normally I take pictures when staying somewhere in case of incidents like this, but the room was so run down I didn't even bother. Who even charges a $50 damage fee anyways? Wouldn't there be a threshold. It doesn't seem worth the trouble. The hotel manager obviously lacks common (business) sense. The 49er Inn & Suites claims "A fresh and modern hotel experience" and "Completely remodeled" on the website. This far from what I experienced/observed. The room we stayed in was dated and not maintained. The shower control handle kept falling off, the shower head sprayed in all different directions, and the door security lock was broken, to name a few. The extra sheet set left for the pullout couch had staining on it that looked like vomit, which was well visible without even unfolding the sheets. There was hair in the bathroom and the sheets didn't smell very fresh. The room did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned/turned over. The rugs were in rough shape. We wouldn't even walk on them without our shoes on. All of these things should be highly noticeable to the staff during turnover, if they cared. We were informed upon check in that there would be no maid service for our stay, 7 nights, because they were understaffed. We had to go down to the lobby to replenish things like soap and shampoo. The 49er staff we encountered also weren't friendly. I'm sensing a theme here - the place is mismanaged. The buildings aren't all connected so it was a cold walk back to our room from the pool. The eggs were a let down, very runny, almost like they were powerdered eggs. The shuttle bus to Jackson Hole Resort was often extremely crowded and filled with college kids who were talking about inappropriate things and using foul language in front of my young kids. People were packed in the seats and aisles. It was very uncomfortable. We had to adjust our ski schedule and take earlier shuttles to avoid the crowds. Also, the shuttle only ran 3 times in the morning to Jackson Hole Resort, and 3 times in the afternoon from JHR, 1.5 hours in between. Otherwise, you can take public transportation, if you don't mind lugging your ski gear to the nearest bus stop. A lot of people had dogs, which we didn't particularly mind. Just something to be aware of if you are not a dog person."
"We stayed here to ski at Jackson Hole. It was pretty busy in the mornings in their dining area trying to get breakfast before the shuttle arrived (it picks up in the parking lot) and so we had to take plates to our room to eat (loads of "table campers" that had already eaten and were just lounging til the shuttle came). The food was better...and more plentiful than I expected for an extended buffet. The double entry into the room was a little wonky and the lighting a little dim but the upstairs pool and hot tub were fantastic, especially after long days of skiing. Parking was tight, but seemed like enough. We didn't hear other rooms or excessive hall noise on the top floor. It's not far from grocery or the main town square and I imagine both would be walkable in non-winter weather. There are a few restaurants very close by. I've stayed in far worse places in Jackson that cost more, so I'll probably stay here again."
"Very nice place to stay for the price. We had a king suite with a fireplace. Sofa was a little worn but everything else was nice. The pool and hot tub area was very nice. Nice selection of breakfast but wish they had bacon. Some of the machines in the workout area were down. We were told they've been down for awhile. It was a short 5 minute walk to the Jackson downtown area and there were plenty of places to eat close by."
