"I’ve booked with Equitours many times but finally decided I wouldn’t do it again following my return from a 2018 Kenya riding trip. Apparently someone on the safari wasn’t happy with my riding style - triggering Equitours to send me a shocking and defamatory email upon my return home. I’ve since discovered that Googling a sentence from any of their trip itineraries connects one directly with the local ride operator’s webpage, precluding the necessity of dealing with Equitour’s disrespectful staff. I’ve booked a few of their advertised trips directly from the source since then and have never looked back! Update: Obviously, the review by Lindsay Fuller is a direct response to mine (most likely orchestrated by the company itself) which unfortunately requires me to respond in clarification. At no time would I ever ride in a manner that compromises the safety of horses or fellow riders. I stand by my original assertion regarding the inexcusable conduct of this company’s staff."
"Equitours is an awesome organization. I have met the folks who run it. They actually care about how the horses are treated in the tours they promote. If you ride or behave in a way that threatens the welfare of horses do not book a tour through them. Don’t book a riding tour at all."
"Booking with Equitours was truly one of the worst experiences of my life. 19 days before our intended trip, my spouse had a horrible riding accident that required immediate surgery and crippled her for a year and a half. The day after her accident, we contacted Equitours and asked if there was SOME dispensation that could be made given this turn of events. While we understood we could not recoup much of our costs (to be clear and fair - we were under the 30 day window, and understand trip guides need to be paid and horses managed for rider spots) we thought perhaps Equitours would work with us and extend some recompense for SOME part of our trip - a credit, a transfer, someone to take our place - we suggested a seriously discounted rate of 40 or 50% off on their website or social media- any rate to get a little back! Equitours simply posted the trip at a 10% discount once on their Facebook page and then our agent immediately went on vacation, kicked off her OOO, and dropped us since our trip was paid for and that was that. No communication, nor was a a single dime of our trip was refunded, transferred, or credited. Equitours pretty much said "oh well." We will NEVER do an Equitours ride again nor would we recommend this company for their terrible customer service."
"I am a long-time client of Equitours. I have been on more than a dozen trips. Most of the trips have been very good. In particular the Kenya Masi Mara (very adventurous); Namibia desert rides; The Spain Mediterranean trail ride; the self-guided ride in France; Ecuador; Chile Torres Del Paine; and my first (of two trips to India). Bitterroot ranch is also a great place to ride. One trip, to Bulgaria, was a complete bust. When I returned from the trip I complained to Equitours and they subsequently removed it from their offering. My second trip to India (Pushkar fair) was disappointing because I had a poorly trained horse who made my life very...difficult (and I am a very competent rider). Unfortunately, they had no other horses available for me to ride. However, the places we visited in India were fascinating. My suggestion to anyone considering a particular ride is to read carefully the description of the ride and ask Equitours for a reference for the ride, so you can discuss with someone who has been on the ride."
"I recently booked 2 trips with equitours and one was great and the other one was not great and felt ripped off! I don’t necessarily blame equitours but my biggest complaint is after a phone call, email and review I have yet to hear anything back and it’s been over a week. The one tour I didn’t care for at all was Alcainca in Portugal that charged 4-5 star prices for a 1-2 star accommodations. Which was misleading on their website with little to no information or pictures. I would’ve preferred at least a response to my questions."
