"Stopped by for lunch. Saw the sign on hwy 20 claiming best pizza in Idaho. Unfortunately this was not the case. The toppings are fantastically fresh, loved this. The flavor was great. But the crust, was very flat, chewy, and tough. We ordered the cinnamon pizza and “the Ranch” calzone. Cinnamon pizza: tough crust! Super flat, no flavor, and did I say tough? The cinnamon sugar on top was crispy. The frosting was too runny for a cream cheese frosting. The Ranch calzone: fresh onions, green peppers and cherry tomato halves, chicken, cheese and a white sauce. This was topped with parsley garlic butter? Flavor: great. Texture: not the best. The tomatoes were slimy, onions a nice crisp, peppers were crisp. But in all honesty the true problem was the pizza crust. The pizza & calzone crust is flat, flavorless and tough. To me the dough was old or freezer burned. I make pizza dough all the time, and I have never had such a flat crust, even when my dough was 7 days fermenting. Atmosphere was very warm and clean. Be CAREFUL with the corners of the tables, Snagged my pants on one, will have to repair that hole later today. Would I return? Yes, but most likely during a rush to see if things are better. Not the best I’ve ever had, that title still belongs to Righteous Slice."
"Got the chicken bacon ranch calzone. I appreciated the freshness of the veggies, but was a bit surprised at the fresh cherry tomatoes. I would have expected sun dried. The dough of the crust was a bit tough, almost like it was over kneaded or old. The same for the crust goes for the cinnamon sticks. For a business that says they’re the best pizza in Idaho, I was pretty disappointed. Righteous Slice in Rexburg still has them beat, but overall it was better than any chain restaurant pizza. Side note: watch the corners on the tables, it snagged my jacket and ripped it."
"The food itself is ok. My calzone was burned and my husband was missing part of his pizza. The waiter said "sorry some of your crust came off, but don't worry we didn't eat it" and then walked away. There were several tables covered in dirty dishes. Not super impressed but the pizza wasn't too bad."
"The poor moose isn’t what is use to be. This was my go to pizza place when I wanted an excuse to go for a drive and grab a snack. The last three trips have been a disappointment. Long wait times, burnt pizza, wrong pizza, and underwhelming service. This was never a problem under previous ownership. First trip - 30 minutes in line waiting to order. (Please go back to the old system. I don’t want to wait in line and watch 10 pizzas get made. The previous system of taking orders allowed me to order, pay, and sit down. The wait seems so much longer when you’re standing. Especially, if you’re wrangling kids. Second trip - when we arrived they said there would be a 45 minute wait. We had driven from Idaho Falls so we told them that was fine. The girl dropped her head, sighed, and looked extremely disappointed that we had opted to stay. In the end the pizza was burnt. I had drug along a friend for their first experience so I felt bad for taking them there. Today - The workers were struggling. Taking pizzas to the wrong tables. (There was not table numbers or any kind of system to prevent this from happening.) FYI, I do not like it when my food goes to the wrong table, gets picked at, they determine it is the wrong food, time goes by and it gets cold, then they bring it to the workers attention, and the poked at pizza comes from their table to mine. In the end multiple tables that sat down after us were served before us. When our cheese sticks were brought over from being at the wrong table I asked for a couple plates. I’m guessing it’s not uncommon to share these. The girl looked at me, pointed at the tray the cheese sticks came on and said “ Isn’t that a plate.” In the past there were always clean plates by the soda fountain. Please bring back the plates and metal forks. I do not blame these workers. They may be new. Problems with overall quality control are a management shortcoming. These workers need better training and management support."
"After years of driving the Mad Moose on trips to Boise and back to Montana, finally had extra time to make a pit stop here for dinner. When you enter, you order right there. Not a giant menu, but one that makes you think about what you. Ordered a Big Bull and Havaiian pizze and an order for cheese bread sticks. The 8" size is your true personal pizza size. The 11" is probably about a medium or slightly larger than that. Fresh toppings all around. Pizza is light and full of flavor. Place was no busy when there as a Thursday night an hour before close only saw to other tables with customers. Places was very clean and the staff was patient with our order since we were first timers. Will be back and make more effort in the future to stop more regularly."
