Alaska Botanical Garden
About the Business
The Alaska Botanical Garden, located at 4601 Campbell Airstrip Road in Anchorage, Alaska, is a beautiful park and tourist attraction. The garden offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program where members can receive a portion of the harvest each week during the growing season. Visitors can also shop for seeds from Foundroot, a family-owned Alaskan company dedicated to food sovereignty.
In addition to plants and seeds, the Alaska Botanical Garden offers workshops, classes, and events for visitors to learn more about gardening and botany. Members of the garden receive discounts on workshops, summer camps, and retail purchases, as well as free admission year-round (excluding ticketed events).
The garden features a variety of plants, including the beautiful Himalayan poppies of the Meconopsis genus. Visitors can also learn how to make paper flower bouquets and shop for plugs, hardy perennials, and native plants to fill their gardens.
The Alaska Botanical Garden relies on the support of the community, and donations are honored with personalized, engraved metal leaves on the donor wall sculpture. The garden is open to the public on select days and hours, and pets are not allowed except for service animals. For more information, contact the garden at (907) 770-3692 or garden@alaskabg.org.

"Attended our first Winter Lights event at the Alaska Botanical Gardens and it was breathtaking. And absolute must-see event for anyone in Anchorage during the holidays."
"This was a fun winter walk with easy groomed trails. Families of all ages were present, and they even had kick sleds with a provided trail for their use. Best Winter Wonderland Walk I’ve been on in a while. Thank you to the coordinators and staff!"
"We went on a Sunday when they first opened. I recommend going then because after noon all the kids come in rowdy. In all it was a cute experience. Nice walk for eight dollars. The halloween decor was adorable and in all my son had fun. They offer classrooms and they do have bathrooms. We will be returning for the Christmas lights in December"
"If I were by myself I would have stayed here all day! It is a beautiful retreat! We visited with my mom and young kids. We all enjoyed the visit and about 1.5 hours was good for exploring. You could go off on trails and spend more time depending on what you enjoy."
"Even in a cooler part of the season, it was beautiful. It was amazing to see all the volunteers working on things as the snow melted and things warmed up. There's a pretty nice gift shop, and they had plants available for purchase that would suit the area. This was a real highlight for me and look forward to returning when more of the garden is in bloom!"
