Reviews
"Hello! This is my six-month review of our Topo 2 Voyager for the “average” user. By average, I mean you are not the person who is boondocking for the next six months, but the person who still has a real job and whose spouse loves the outdoors, but requests access to actual bathrooms. When my spouse and I were considering a Topo 2 purchase, I scoured the internet for reviews from real people using the trailer in the way we would use it. Such as camping in National and State Parks, with the occasional boondock, or by asking my daughter to sleep in it when we had too many house guests. I hope this review is helpful to the Escapod curious. We picked our Topo 2 Voyager on September 18, 2023, in Coalville, Utah. We had a great experience with the staff in Coalville (Thank you Kaylee) and we could not be happier with this trailer. We have been to four parks in the last six months, Great Basin National Park in Nevada, Twin Lakes in Mammoth, California, San Onofre State Park in California and most recently Death Valley National Park. We have experienced 34-degree nighttime temperatures, hail, rain, and wind (some sun too!). In all situations, the Topo 2 has performed extremely well. When we were in Twin Lakes, the nighttime temperature was 34 degrees. We turned on the Truma Heater to 62 degrees and ended up being too hot! The Truma Heater is awesome. Then as the rain and hail began to fall in the morning, we were able to look up into the star gazer window, enjoy it and be completely comfortable. It also rained on our recent trip to Death Valley. It was raining our first morning. I opened the kitchen galley, made coffee, and stayed dry the entire time. The gutters built into the fiberglass shell are amazing. The rain runs right off, everything stays dry even with the hatch open. The Topo 2 has turned trips that could have been less than comfortable and made them enjoyable. We did not get all the upgrades with the trailer; we do not have the extra battery and the inverter, the Dometic AC or the ARB fridge. We did upgrade the MaxxAir fan, which came in handy in the rain. If you are not getting the Dometic AC, I do recommend the fan upgrade. We also have found no need for the extra battery or the inverter. We have not used hook ups at any camping spot and have found the solar panel more than adequate to keep the battery charged. We also are very happy with the Yeti Cooler. Every trip we end up with ice still in the cooler and all our food still cold. We do have the rock rails and rock guards which I find to be very useful. I am always standing on the rock rails, and I love the added protection. My wife and I have not towed a trailer prior to this purchase. We have always been car campers. The Topo 2 tows very easily. I have seen lots of comments in other forums about the types of tow set ups, the types of tow vehicles and what is required to pull a Topo 2. We have an Outback Limited XT with a towing capacity of 3500 lbs., and we have trailer brakes on the Topo 2. We have the factory hitch on the Outback and converted the factory four pin to a seven pin. We use a trailer hitch with a four-inch rise and have the standard ball coupler on the Topo 2. We use a Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller for the trailer brakes. We have had zero problems. We have towed on dirt roads, in high winds, up mountain roads in the rain and in Southern California traffic. The Topo 2 has been wonderfully easy to tow. In our recent trip to Death Valley, we pulled the trailer to several sites after checking out of the campground. The size of the Topo 2 allows you to take it all sorts of places and easily park. The best part was we could just pull off the road into the desert and make lunch wherever we wanted. This is a very versatile trailer and I highly recommend it. Our favorite part is all we need to do is load up our clothes and food and we are ready to go. That’s it! Off to explore. Great trailer and a great brand. We love it."
"Fabulous experience with Chris, Jen and all the team at Escapod. I met Jen and Chris at Overland Expo and they took plenty of time to show me around the Topo2. We ended up buying one and couldn’t be happier. It’s a wonderful trailer and the support from the team has been great"
"I picked up my Top02 in Coalville and pulled it five days back to Massachusetts with my 2006 Wrangler. The wrangler drove better towing than not. The camper was stable and smooth. The electric brakes, spectacular. Over nights were luxurious. I especially liked the memory foam mattress and cabin heater. The ventilation allowed zero condensation. I am very pleased"
"We bought an Escapod last year. The order process was pretty easy and the leadtime due to Covid19 was very good. Overall, we are pleased with the build quality and materials used. We took this camper out during summer and fall for hunting and the experience was excellent. We can recommend Escapod if you are looking for a small camper which fits in your garage. Just one thing to mention, the rig is heavier than it appears. Following up on my review, I took the camper out for a hunting trip this season to wake up to 4" of snow and frigid temperatures. Overall the camper did well. I missed a heater in the camper to fight humidity and get some more pleasant temperatures. Anyway, the camper held up well and I would not have made it through 4 nights without it."
"From beginning to end, the journey to get our Topo2 was fantastic. Support was there to help through any concerns and made sure we were road worthy for our trip home. We’ve had it about a month and two more trips out with it since with no concerns."
