BOY SCOUT (recgovnpsdata)
About the Business
Boy Scout Campground is a primitive campground located in Dugway, Utah, United States, at an elevation of 6,320 feet. It offers one group site, five single family sites, and one double site, all surrounded by oak, maple, and juniper trees providing partial shade. Visitors can enjoy exploring local trails and fishing for rainbow and brown trout in nearby Willow Creek. The campground features picnic tables, campfire circles, tent pads, and vault toilets, but no water system, so visitors must bring their own water. The campground is accessible via the scenic South Willow Canyon Road, which winds through interesting narrows and offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. The road is mostly paved but becomes gravel at the National Forest boundary, and the last 4 miles are unpaved. The remote location provides a peaceful retreat for those seeking a camping experience in nature. "We LOVED camping here. It was beautiful, quiet. The campsites are spaced out enough that even our rowdy group didn't disturb the group across from us. Spacious, amazing staff. The camp host Margaret was especially welcoming, helpful, and happy to help us out with our questions. It rained a lot of the weekend but we still gave it 6/5 stars!"
"Boy Scout campground isn't designed very well. Several campsites aren't trailer friendly (turned the wrong way, no place to turn around). WARNING: Plan on walking in, inspect and make a plan to get in and then back out. You don't want to get stuck. For some sites, the table and fire pit are up a steep grade (NO steps/stairs). Online photos are misleading. When it's raining, it'll be easy to slip and fall down the hill. Good luck on getting your cooler, food and gear up to the table. The two group sites (7 & 8) are right on top of each other. There is a steep incline and no steps to access site 7 from site 8. The camp is very scenic and peaceful. Note, not every campsite has access to the (seasonal?) stream. Restrooms (vault type) are not centrally located (next to the group sites at the far end). No garbage service, plan on packing out. On our visit, no camp host. Grantsville is a short drive away, but is limited on services. Nearest Sani-dump is in Tooele. We had intermittent, one bar of signal for our Verizon phones in site 6."
"Be careful with little ones and pets!!!! We had a Rattle Snake encounter in our campsite. The campgrounds are nice and quiet. Restrooms are kept clean."
"Very nice well maintained camp grounds! I'll be back! Really cool rock formations, I wish I could have had more time and my ebikes. Totally Awesome place to check out!"
"Great campground. If you have a large group and can grab the multiple sites it's ideal. Beautiful canyon, you're in a well vegetated area, tucked into a little draw, with a creek below and stansbury trail above. The campsite is far enough off the road we didn't notice any traffic. Male and Female outhouses. I'd never been out to this mountain range and was impressed with the area."
