"Great challenge of a hike. Whether you are coming up from the Bell Canyon Trailhead of Little Cottonwood or off Wasatch going to the upper falls is worth it. Loop around the reservoir and connect either way to head up. You can continue up higher where it flattens out a little bit to see more falls. There are some areas of technical terrain going over rocks, but it is not too much if you are in decent shape. Kids can do this hike. Wear appropriate shoes as you will be going over quite a bit of rocks. The views are beautiful! It takes about an hour or so to get to the falls if you are going at a walking pace from the trail head. Best time to see the falls really rushing is in mid-July!"
"A beautiful and quaint waterfall at the end of a moderately challenging hike. These falls run throughout the year, though the flow will be considerably stronger (and even dangerous) in the early months of runoff. The hike is steep and requires one to scramble up a trail of rocks and small boulders so be prepared and be very careful if there is ice or snow on the trail."
"Great hike. So close to SLC. It's great to do all the hikes along the Wasatch Range while staying at the nearby Courtyard Cottonwood hotel that has a great pool and hot tub and is located at the mouth of the Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon. It's easy to make this hike as short or as long as you'd like and still see good views and some nature features."
"It probably would've been a great hike if the trail wasn't covered in 2 feet of snow. Thr hike is sround 6 miles long out and back. The distance markers on the trail are super inaccurate. After the bridge, it said 0.9 more miles to go but we hike around 2 miles after that. The last stretch is super steep. It didn't seem that worth it to me since we had been hiking in slippery, slushy, deep snow but I want to try it again when there is no snow!"
"I did this hike the first week in February. I was expecting it to be hiking on a snow packed trail. It was instead a lot of melted snow, so lots of puddles and slush. I had my hiking sticks and spikes or Crampons on my shoes. I was so extremely grateful that I had those. People who did not were sliding all all over a slippery steep trail. The trail starts at the base of little cottonwood canyon. It walks up switchbacks until it gets to the reservoir. After about a mile up past that is when I started to think the trail got very pretty. The cliffs on the left were very impressive. Then it got steep climbing up a steep trail with lots of boulders and lots of pines on both sides. I thought it was beautiful, but those who were not wearing spikes were dealing with a really scary section. After that section the falls are only a little further. Of course they were beautiful and the snow all around them made it super scenic. Would happily do it again. If I do it again I might bring waterproof boots and slide my spikes over top of them. I had super waterproof Salmon shoes and my feet still got wet because there was just so much water."
