"This is a beautiful hike. It starts with switchbacks and then turns to a moderate hike. Depending on your hiking speed and the time of year, plan on approximately 90 minutes to get to the waterfall. If you choose to go in the winter, be sure to wear your snow grips/ice cleats. Hiking is doable without them, but much easier and safer with them. Also, if you go during the winter, pay attention to the bridge (at the time of writing, the bridge is iced over - we had to hike beyond the bridge to climb across fallen logs to cross the river). So, in the winter, be prepared for inconveniences and hazards. (Photos taken December 2023.)"
"What a beautiful trail. The trail only gets better as you go higher. The bottom is a sand switchback, then you reach the trees and follow the stream. The sound of water flowing calms your soul. The upper waterfall is amazing. The only thing that was challenging was the crowds of hikers. I enjoy solitude more. There is a small camp ground about half way up. If you have ropes the upper waterfalls has rappel rings and bolts. Enjoy!"
"This was an awesome adventure. I started the trip with the intention of fishing in the canyon. So I hauled 25 pounds of extra gear I didn't need. Fishing in this area would be better first of spring when the water levels are higher. Enjoy the trial and the hike. No worries about getting lost on the path. Take it from me, I could get lost in a Walmart. I will be going back, it's just too pretty not to."
"This was an intermediate hike to difficult in areas. If you go in from the Bonnvile trail, it’s over a 2 mile hike to the bottom of the waterfall. Very pretty after the switchbacks; wear good hiking shoes, rocks, loose sand and branches in the trails and can be slippery. You will walk through water towards the 2 mile mark. Take lots of water!"
"We went with three kids ages 5-11 and we did not even make it to the Lower Falls, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We stopped at the bend of Bonneville Shoreline Trail, where it goes over the creek and turns South. As you can see in the videos and pictures, it is a beautiful, flat area with some parts where the water rushes through, making it very pleasant to sit on tree trunks, listen to the water, relax, and enjoy nature after the hike up. Consider bringing water shoes since the rocks are pretty sharp (especially for kids). The first portion of the trail (the zigzagging part) is pretty steep, so beware if you want to go with little ones. It’s doable, but it’s not the most fun to do with children (also, there’s no shade). The views of the valley are breathtaking and we found some critters, plants, and flowers on the way up and down. Despite the initial challenge, it was a fun and beautiful outing."
