"DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. They tried to scam me and tell me my insurance did not cover a single procedure they needed to do , and they told me I HAD to have the procedures done that day. The total cost of the procedures was going to be almost $20k. I confirmed before I made the appointment that they were an in network dentist. After diagnosing me, they had their receptionist come in and tell me my insurance had a 1 year waiting period and would not even cover fillings. After I grew concerned and told her I did not have $20k to put toward Dental and I was very confused on how my insurance that I have had for two years supposedly covered nothing with them, the RECEPTIONIST, told me my teeth were going to fall out if I did not get the procedures done right then and there. She then tried to pressure me into applying for a Care Credit with them. I left anyways and she charged me a $50 copay. I then called my insurance when I left and found out this Dental Office was completely false about my insurance not covering anything. I did not have a waiting period at all, my insurance covers 80% of most procedures, and my copay was only supposed to be $25. I think scare tactics and not properly validating insurance plans, or just completely being false about the benefits is a terrible business practice. I am so thankful I trusted my gut, walked out, and did not let a receptionist use scare tactics to make me pay $20k"
"Bend over when you go to Platinum Dental. Their pricing is insane the woman with dark hair at the front tried to make my wife sign a financial responsibility form before telling her what it would cost!! I asked for documentation and to speak to Dr. Bell since I don't trust her and she wouldn't do either. I guess she didn't want her boss to know how horrible she is. Dr. Bell seems like a nice guy but either he has no clue about the billing or he is complacent. Either way AVOID it."
"Linda - the hygienist - is amazing. Sevi - the front desk gal - lacks the "customer is right" skills. The Platinum system between the main office and the Park City office has its challenges. The main office has changed an appointment for my son to be an appointment for me, changed dates of appointments, etc. And Sevi will always look at the customer as the villain. I definitely sympathize with the poster below complaining about the attempts to cancel before a fee was charged. Dr Bell - I like him. He's nice and a good dentist, but he/office tends to upsell. I went in with my 20 year old son. Signed off for a $300 filling. My son went back in alone, got upsold to a $1700 crown-like filling. Mind you, I had already signed the quote for the regular $300 amalgam filling. My son tried to get ahold of me at the time of pressured upsell but couldn't. He signed the upsell quote and got the temporary filling. When I called in, they told me, he's an adult and he already signed the contract. Blindsided. An expensive lesson. When my 17 year old son needed 3 fillings, Sevi gave me a quote for the $1700 fillings ($1700 x 3) I asked for the regular amalgam filling price, and she responded that Dr. Bell doesn't like to do those. (pressure sales?) I asked her to find out the price - she left and came back saying the doctor will do the amalgams for us. (like they were doing us a favor) I honestly sat there after she said the price tag for 3 fillings would be over $5000, the thought raced through my head - I can't believe I signed up for the in-house discount plan and now I'll need to find a new dentist. I shopped the discount plans for the dental offices in town as we don't have dental insurance. What I forgot to ask was the pricing of things before the discount. The free x-rays with the discount plan is amazing, but I'm not sure that the pricing post discount is anything too different than what the other offices in town offer. I'm sure they are all good at their craft, but the systems in place leave the patient untrusting. Honestly, after the filling shenanigans, I've learned you have to ask enough questions and stand your ground."
"I've been going here since 2019 and seems like every time I go, I have a new dentist — and you never know who you're going to see until you're there! At my most recent cleaning, there was (once again) a different dentist, and I just got a $200 bill for it — turns out he is out of network for me, but no one informed me of that. I never thought to ask because every cleaning I've had has been 100% covered by insurance, and I didn't even know I was seeing a new dentist until the hygienist brought him in. When I asked Platinum why there was a bill, since my cleanings have always been covered, instead of being transparent and simply explaining, "The doctor you saw is not covered by your insurance," they kept saying "Talk to your insurance." My insurance was shocked at the situation and suggested I talk to Platinum to figure out the charges, so I called Platinum back, and they were unsympathetic — I was disappointed with the lack of compassion, understanding and willingness to find a solution with me. The revolving door of dentists has also meant some questionable care — for example, dentist #1 insisted I get a crown on a tooth, which was done poorly and cracked, and when I went back to get it replaced dentist #2 said I should've gotten a veneer not a crown but "too late." Then earlier this year, dentist #3 said I had a crack in a back tooth that needed a $500+ procedure (which I put off scheduling because I didn't have the funds) and when I went back 6 months later, dentist #4 didn't even mention the crack or the procedure (so, good thing I didn't pay $500 for something I apparently don't need any more?). They'll also text you a million times about paying a bill — but for some reason, they cannot be bothered to send one courtesy text to their patients, "Hey, meet our new dentist! Call your insurance to check your coverage with Dr. _____." I can't say I recommend this place, but if you do go, make sure you call the day before your appointment to clarify that 1) you're seeing the same dentist, or a different one, and 2) if that dentist is covered by your insurance, to ensure you aren't stuck with a surprise bill. I added a star because the hygienist I've had the last few times is one of the best I've ever had, and also dentist #2 was extremely kind and knowledgable when fixing my broken crown."
"I was in town on vacation and had an immediate need to get in. The office was very accommodating and got me in that day. Dr Bell was terrific and explained everything he was doing along with what options I may have down the road even though I am not a full time resident here. I really appreciated the treatment I received and professionalism of everyone I encountered."
