"Just left Oklahoma before intermission. It was a “modern” spin taken way too far. The director took a beautiful and exciting musical and turned into one of the most boring shows I have ever seen. No dancing, no scene changes, almost unable to follow the story line. All the cast sat on stage for every scene. I feel bad for the cast. They were all incredibly talented and sadly they couldn’t get the show off the ground with the absolute lack of direction and blocking. To add insult to injury, I took my children to this musical thinking we’d have a fun enjoying a family friendly show and that was not the case with the overly sexualized “I can’t say no” where Ado Annie basically gave a standing lap dance to another cast member AND THEN there was a glorification and graphic scene where Curly encourages Jud to commit suicide. Not even funny in the least. Sadly we left disgusted and severely disappointed."
