"Help! Our ParentPlus loans were acquired by Nelnet from Great Lakes shortly before the pause ended. We've been paying on loans for our two kids for about 10 years and continued to make payments during the pause, lowering our principal amount due considerably. We still have a large outstanding balance. Trying to connect with someone at Nelnet is impossible. Chat is only for FAQs. Phone calls are on hold for a lengthy period before being disconnected. Email results in a boilerplate response that someone will be in touch within 48 hours, which never happens. I have attempted to access my statements online; selecting the statement I want produces nothing. There is no option to select paper statements. There is no way to determine how the payments are being applied and our overall balance increases monthly, despite the payments being made. There is no transparency, accountability or professionalism when it comes to Nelnet. Nelnet gets a large monthly sum from us and, seemingly, is not required to account for what is being done with this money. I am at a loss as to what to do. I want to know where our money is going and how it's being credited to our loans."

"After over a decade of paying off my student loans, I was hit with a surprise charge of 43.41. I have called 2 times and been put on hold for over an hour before the line disconnected. The chat online is useless and I have sent 4 emails over the last month that have not been responded to. When I looked at my account, it's now $44 and it's gaining interest every day because of how incompetent the company is being run. Edit: It has now been a month with no response."

"After the "pause" my payment was applied 100% to interest, 0% to principle. Before the "pause"; $215 of my payment was applied to the principle! My second payment had $9 applied to the principal! This organization should be investigated... they are organized crime sponsored by the US government!"
