"Car was ok, the person at the front desk was nice the real problem I have is with the people in the garage. The person checking in the return was extremely pushy. In feeling like I had to rush for her convenience I left my credit card holder in the car. I was in Salt Lake for an interview I flew in went to the interview and flew back in the same day. So either I left my wallet at the company I was interviewing for... or it's in the car. Filed a lost item report and guess what it is nowhere to be found. What's more likely the company is keeping it or that a Hertz employee saw the wallet and decided it was theirs now... It would be nice to be able to directly communicate with someone there, but Hertz customer service doesn't even know the direct line. Leaving the wallet is my fault, but Hertz knows someone on their staff pocketed it."
"I've had a reservation to pick up my car at this location on February 26th at 11:00 p.m.. I am a president circle member. When I got here, I didn't find my name on the list, no one was on the front desk, and no one was behind the gold member desk either. So picked the car from the member aisle and proceeded to the gate to check out, only to be told to "come back tomorrow" . I had to stand in the middle of the snow to take an Uber, and paid nearly a hundred bucks to get to my hotel. Of course I'm not coming back tomorrow to pick up my car which was supposed to be ready for me today. Terrible service hertz"
"The $807 Review! In June 2023, upon picking up my rental vehicle, I immediately noticed a significant crack in the windshield. This flaw was evident before I even started the car or left the parking bay. Concerningly, there was no staff available for a standard vehicle walk-around, leaving me no option but to document the issue myself. I diligently took photos of the cracked windshield as evidence. Despite not being able to report the issue on the spot due to the absence of a walk-around staff member, I made sure to mention the pre-existing crack upon returning the vehicle. I clearly indicated on the return form that the windshield crack was present at the time of pick-up, assuming that this would suffice to inform the company of the situation. However, in a surprising turn of events, I received an email in November 2023 from Hertz. This email accused me of being responsible for the windshield damage and demanded payment of $807 within 10 days for a damage I did not cause. This situation is particularly frustrating because I had taken all necessary precautions to report and document the pre-existing damage. This experience raises concerns about the rental company's vehicle inspection and customer service protocols. It is disheartening to be held accountable for damage that was clearly present before the rental period commenced, especially when efforts were made to report and document the issue. This incident has significantly affected my view of Hertz Rental Car in Salt Lake City, and I urge potential customers to be vigilant and thorough in documenting any vehicle issues before leaving the rental lot. Oh FYI - It is illegal to drive with a cracked windshield in Utah if the crack impairs the driver's vision. According to Utah's motor vehicle laws, windshields must be free from damage or conditions that impair the driver's view of the road. This includes large cracks or chips that can interfere with visibility. The law is in place to ensure driver safety and visibility."
"I was initially apprehensive due to numerous negative reviews, but my personal experience was smooth and hassle-free. Gold members can directly pick their car with the keys already inside, and simply drive to the exit to finalize the paperwork. There are over 20 cars to choose from. Even if you’ re not a gold member, there’s no queue at the counter. As it was my first time renting from Hertz, the staff provided thorough assistance and explanations. Their patience and friendliness were commendable. Returning the car was also a breeze. After a quick inspection , we received our receipt and were on our way. Overall, a highly positive experience."
"Nearly 2 hours to get a car. Only 1-2 people working the counter with more than 40 people waiting in line. Eventually two more Hertz employees started working the counter and things moved along. My turn came, and no car in my class was available. So for a mere $20/day more, I could get an upgrade, or choose to wait 30 minutes while a car in my class was cleaned. I chose the latter, waited and got my decidedly mediocre full-size car. Scratched, some dents, a hasty paint cover up, and a hole in the driver's seat are what greeted me. Upon exit, I was directed to three different checkout booths, due to technical issues. The staff were polite, the car drove fine, but the total experience, my first with Hertz, was disappointing."
