"I don't like their management, still. Backstory - 2019 I came in with my wife and kids (this means I plan on buying a car and driving it home) and negotiate a complete "out the door" price on a new minivan. When signing all of the paperwork with the financing department they tell me they can't afford to sell the car at the price we negotiated and raise the price $2k at the very last minute. My wife, kids and I are all burned out so we end up buying the minivan anyway and leave with a very sour taste in our mouth. Included in the deal was a certain amount of "free" maintenance. We end up having to replace the 2 front tires because we find out they cut corners and never rotated the tires like they should have during all of the service visits. This is another strike against them. 5 years later in 2024 I come in and test drive a new Kia EV6 GT with my son. The battery was very low, it was raining, and as a result the car isn't making power. About 6 days later (3/30/24) I come in with my wife and kids ready to pull the trigger with up to $80k in financing from my credit union ready to go (I am looking to purchase up to 2 vehicles). I first want to test drive a 2021 Chevy Bolt before driving an EV6 GT. For some reason, today they make us sign a waiver and get proof of insurance. They did not do this when I test drove the EV6 about 6 days earlier. We get the keys from the salesperson and are waiting in the car. The salesperson says they currently don't have any license plates for a test drive, but if the salesperson comes with us then we can drive the car. The salesperson tells us if we let the salesperson go with us then we don't need a plate because the salesperson is the "insurance." He said the manager is making him do this, which is believable. The sales person said he would be fired if we drove the car without a plate unless he came with us. He can't fit in the car with all of us. I told the salesperson not to bother because we are "firing" his boss. We gave back the keys and skipped the test drive. Here is my advice to the management: 1. Don't treat the people that are asking to drive a less expensive vehicle differently. When I drove the EV6 GT before I didn't have to show proof of my insurance and sign a waiver. 2. I liked our salesperson. They should be allowed to make mistakes without fear of being fired. You should be able to test drive an inexpensive car without a salesperson when you have a copy of their license and personal auto insurance. I would not have walked away from at least one purchase today so easily if I had not had 2 previous problems with Doug Smith Kia. Kia dealers are easy to find. Do yourself a favor and drive past this one."
"We have mixed feelings about our experience with Doug Smith Kia. Extremely happy to have our brand new telluride and that it came quicker than we initially expected, but the communication leading up to getting our car was so so poor. We had to constantly bug our sales rep, to get any sort of updates, timeline, or information or else we would have been completely in the dark. Poor communication aside, Chad was very accommodating and good at not putting any pressure on us, which is always the fear with sales reps. I can't say the same when it came time to finish things up with Darin. I understand we aren't the ideal client since we paid in cash and didn't want any extra warranties, but I'm not sure that justifies the pressure, cold shoulder, and unfriendliness we experienced with him. The shift once we declined the extras was wild. Thankfully we haven't had any experience with the service dept yet, since reviews speak pretty low of that area, but I will say they have the smallest and least inviting service dept I've seen at a dealership. The new building will be much needed and hopefully keep the customer in mind when it comes to the service dept. Ending on a positive note though, the dealership fees here are fantastic compared to Jerry Seiner. That combined with the non-pushiness of the sales reps is what led us to choosing Doug Smith and possibly choosing them again in the future."
"Dru was our sales rep, and he was a dream to work with! No bogus fees, no mandatory protection plan, no markup. Awesome dealership. Car buying experience was excellent! Our experience was quite a bit different than others, we ordered it via email and text communication. Dru was very clear with what the process was, waiting times, fees/taxes/costs involved. He even messaged us when a vehicle order was abandoned that matched our order so we got our van months earlier than expected! The paperwork was really easy, we financed through our Credit Union and nobody was upset that we didn't finance through the dealership. We declined extended warranties and everyone was cool with it (although this was when we felt most of the selling pressure). The entire place was filled with professionals, we would be happy to purchase from Doug Smith Kia again!"
"Dylan was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when I went in to buy a car for my wife. He and his manager Lynn were both super easy going, and not pushy in anyway. They helped me understand the numbers in very matter of fact way, and worked with me where I needed it. Bailey, the finance rep, was very helpful when it came to breaking down numbers a second time. At no time did I feel like I was being “sold”. By far the best experience I’ve ever had buying a car. Every interaction felt very personable, genuine, and transparent. I would highly recommend buying a car here. Ask for Dylan!"
