"I purchased a 1965 fe 390 from RattleRocket garage for $3800.00. Images and video included all looked good and was told it came out of a 1965 Thunderbird. One of the videos showed it running on wood blocks. They did a good job with shipping but that’s it. When it arrived I installed it into my project and it ran pretty good. About a month later I found an oil leak and determined the oil pan gasket would be a good start. When I pulled the pan I found the center MAIN CAP WAS MISSING A BOLT! This main cap holds the crankshaft in place and provides proper CS end play. When I called RattleRocket garage to express my frustration he told me that on the 4WD motors the bolt was installed through the pan after installation. He said it was probably just forgot when the pan was changed. No big deal right…The pan installed when i received the motor was not a 4WD pan. I’m sure that Ford did not offer a 4WD version of the Thunderbird in 1965. All that was offered was a replacement bolt. Currently the motor is being pulled back out for a complete rebuild. If you purchase a motor from Rattle Rocket garage you better go look at it in person and completely check it out."
