I asked them to go ahead and do an oil change and just let me know if we needed more than that. He called and was very thorough and frank about what was up with my car. And said they could do the brakes the same day. I was expecting to have to schedule it for next week. I managed to get my rotors and pads changed out, an oil change (for less than most places), emissions and registration done all in one place! And they had me out of there in about 2 hours!
