"We are loving Kona Karate! The staff is amazing - even the teenage boy teachers. Teaching my son so much about coordination with his body and so much teaching about real life too!"
"I love that there are seats for parents to watch, either on the floor or upper balcony. I like that they pair students off and use alternative equipment during each training. Seems a bit like "make it up as you go", so more structure guide to follow during class instructing. There are three student mentors teaching the class, I would like to see the other 2 student mentors paying attention and assisting the children who are not following correctly more observantly. I think having a headset microphone for the instructor speaking would be super helpful. Its a large warehouse size studio and echos. A suggestion, to not allow the next following class to meet out on the floor off to the side. It's distractive and noisy and blocks the mirror so students cannot see reflection while training. I think my child is not hearing the instructor very well. Give more breakdown in slow motion first before expecting the child to copy cat moves back. If child doesn't understand the move how can they repeat properly. Cloth strip with a Velcro or a button snap or some other form of attachment for colored stripes on belt earned each time, instead of tape strips. I think tape will not last long and is a bit cheap looking. Maybe just more of a cloth tape than shiny plastic look. Minimum amount of students per class, should be 3-4 student per instructor so about 12 students per class 15 at most. Awesome start up deal, $69 for 6 weeks twice a week with free gee uniform. Best rate I've found, even though driving from Salt Lake to Centerville. After your first 6 weeks the price is still fair and affordable for those in a low income household."
"I love love love Kona Karate. They are so fun with the kids!! My son is 5 and it is so perfect for him. They do obstacle courses and more. Such a great environment for your kids to get their energy out! The teachers are fantastic too!"
"Kona Karate has such an amazing environment. Every teacher has been positive and enthusiastic and even my incredibly shy, hide-behind-mom’s-legs little guy only needed a few weeks to warm up to everyone. Both of my children look forward to every class. It is the highlight of their day. The instructors are dedicated to their practice, able to teach at many different levels, and give much more to their students than ever expected. We’re hooked!"
"Kona karate is awesome! The teachers are really involved and take the time to make sure each kid is improving at their own pace. They also ensure every class is a positive and confidence building experience. We love it!"
