Este Pizzeria - Downtown

"As a born and raised NY native, I'm always going to be on the hunt for pizza that comes even close to what I grew up with. Este has been the closest I've come since moving to SLC last summer. I do find the slices a bit overpriced, but long gone are the days where I could walk into any pizza joint with a $5 in my pocket and leave with 2 slices and a soda. That'll set you back $10 here."

"I have been going to Este for years. Between downtown and the old Sugar House location, it was one of the best pizzerias in Utah. Now that the owners have split up the locations, its quality has gone downhill fast. Then they got rid of the Italian Flag pizza and it’s like….why even keep going there other than the occasional quick slice. There’s just not a lot of care or passion for the business like it seemed to have."

"I've been going to Estes for a few years, and there have been some issues from time to time, but nothing like my most recent misadventure this past weekend. I don't like leaving nasty reviews, but this meal was a disaster from top to bottom. I ordered delivery thru Doordash, as the previous time I had called the restaurant directly and been told quite rudely they don't deliver. The pizza took forever to prep (Doordash guy was fast and professional). When the food arrived, it was immediately apparent that someone at Estes on Friday, October 14th at 7pm does not particularly care about doing the bare minimum. The garlic knots we ordered were completely scorched, hard as rocks and they smelled awful. The pizza was missing at least half of its cheese and just overall looked like a hot mess. The fried ravioli was alright, but not enough to save a $50 dollar meal. I won't be going back here for quite a while, as there are numerous pizza joints in this city who actually put a little effort into making their food. I'm pretty disappointed that there was no effort at quality control whatsoever."
