"My experience at Holy Cross Emergency Room on 5600 South in Roy, Utah. Day was November 5, 2023. I had been hit in a passenger side t-bone car accident; I was the driver, not the passenger. I didn’t have any broken bones, wasn’t bleeding anywhere, and was pretty with it, not concussed that I know of, knew where I was, what had happened, don’t believe I ever lost consciousness, but had been told I had super high blood pressure, like 200, so I arrived by ambulance. A nurse put me in a room, told me to put on the gown and other cover up. I did. I repeatedly stated this was my first car accident, basically saying, give me all the info regarding anything to do with this, because I’m in the dark. I had intense pain in both the left outer/front of my left thigh, about 4-5 inches above my knee, and on the right side of my chest, basically my breast at the top and right, and the chest area above it. I told this to the nurse. At no time was I given a cold pack, treated for shock, offered a blanket in that cold room, nothing! The nurse put the thing on my finger, and possibly took my blood pressure, I can’t remember. Are people not given hot/cold packs so swelling/bruising, and pain might be a small bit alleviated in these circumstances? My husband arrived shortly after I did and was in my room continually when the doctor was in the room. I thought the doctor would need to examine me, take note of my injuries and bruises, and know what to look for in those areas. I put the robe on like I do with my gynecologist, open in front, but completely covered up. The doctor partly came in the door, saw I had the robe on differently than expected and told me the ties go in the back I think, and ran away. I turned it around. When the doctor came back in, he didn’t even approach me. He stood at the other end of the room and asked me if I thought I needed a CAT scan or an MRI. I said no. The doctor acted like I was going to come on to him, or attack him or something, I felt. He was definitely not comfortable with the situation, and had no bedside manner! He told the nurse to give me 2 extra -strength acetaminophen and an 800 mg ibuprofen and was done. I was disgusted with the unreal lack of anything on his part. I told them specifically that I had a blood clot history in the left leg so they would know. No one told me what to expect, didn’t even seem to hear me about the blood clot history, or give me symptoms to look for, that might be an issue. I think I had multiple hematomas, possibly bruised bones, which no one bothered to mention could happen, or be what I had either; I had to look it up online when the bruises and pain stayed past months and had lumps under them. I still have a lump in the left leg where the bruise was, and it’s painful. It’s nearly been 4 months. Neither the doctor or nurse gave me any idea on how long it would take me to recover and be able to move with ease and without pain, or what to expect at all! Even though I repeatedly said, “This is my 1st time in an accident.” Total lack of everything on their part! Pretty much even human kindness. Sure, put the info on the discharge papers, whatever, but if I’m asking for information, tell me at the time too! This was my first experience with Holy Cross, but had been to this ER other times before then. With my experience, I would definitely never recommend someone go to this specific facility!"
"I’m not one to write reviews, however I was so disappointed in the service this facility provided. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone not even for a pet. The doctor seemed very uneducated, and it took the nurse 3 attempts to start an IV. They literally took 2 vials of blood and gave 1 bag of fluid and charged us several thousand dollars. They will not give a discount to pay in full!!! They have HORRIBLE service all the way around!!"
"Update: They outsource their billing and the people they hire suck, but the financial lady in the actual hospital in Layton is very nice and helpful. I took off work and took all of my documentation directly to their office and she helped me get it fixed. Whether or not I still get harassed by their other people is yet to be seen. But in the meantime, if you have trouble with your bill, don't bother dealing with their outsourced billing department over the phone. Go directly to the hospital and work it out it in person. The lady there is so much sweeter and smarter than the very rude outsourced billing people. The care that I got here was ok but the billing department has been a nightmare. They are billing me almost $900 over what the insurance says I owe. I called the billing department and they told me to send them the EOB. I did. They claim they ever got it. I ended up sending it 3 times. They always claim they never got it. So I sent it certified mail and have their signature proving they got it. They said they never got it. My Laywer sent them all the proof required, and a cease and desist letter. The hospital stopped billing me and sent me to collections instead. When I provided all of the proof to the collection agency that I do not owe the bill, they returned it to the hospital who then sent it to a different collection agency. Always the hospital, and each new collection agency says they have no records of any of it. How convenient. This new collection agency said I have to send ANOTHER letter stating that I dispute the bill by a deadline or they will assume their bill is accurate. How much do you want to bet they say they didn't get it? This has been going on for two years. I am sick of the harassment. And that is what it is. Harassment. It would be understandsble if i actually owed the money. But i dont owe this! And I have proven over and over that I do not owe this. So this feels more like extortion."
"my family’s had their last experience here. My mom was holding a pot of boiling water at home that slipped and poured out over her legs and feet. They rushed her over to the hospital with each foot in cold water as she was in a lot of pain and turned the top of her feet into blisters. She goes in and there’s no line, yet no urgency from the staff whatsoever. They start asking for her give her social security number, home address, etc and she told them I’m in a lot of pain can you take me back and do it there but nope, needed to do all the paperwork first. Not a good experience in the end, my mom will be going somewhere else tomorrow for better care."
"Horrible experience. I was treated like a joke by Dr. Bass In the ER and the CT scan tech. I waited 3 hours to finally get CT scan and then I waited another 2 and never was seen again. I finally just left. The hospital was literally dead. It should not have taken that long for hip CT scan results. I will never come back. Going to Ogden Reginal next time."
