"I’ve been switched around to quite a few schools and I can honestly say that highland is probably one of the best public schools you could find. There’s such a wide variety of people here and everyone knows each other. This is the first school I’ve ever had spirit for. Every school has its issues, I would say one of the biggest issues highland has is a few of the teachers. Some of the language teachers (English and other) are absolutely awful. I personally would recommend taking Spanish and Mrs. Nowell. The AP program is great and I love my AP teachers so much. The honors and IB program could use some work. Over all I feel very comfortable and happy at this school."
"The kids are disrespectful to teachers. They take things that aren't there's. A lot of my friends dread having to go here everyday. Personally I have had a kid in one of the buses throw nails at me for no reason. And someone has gone through my bag and taken things. My friend has gotten bullied for being gay. And the kids think it's okay to be disrespectful. Plus since the class is so rambunctious it's hard to get work done."
"Highland is a good place for new people. It is friendly, but has a lot of people that do drugs and people who skip class, but still a pretty good school. The teachers here are nice, and offer 1 on 1 help, and the councilors are nice as well. If you are considering Highland over East or West, come here instead because its better than both of them."
"Highland High was probably the worst school I ever attended during highschool. The students were awful, bigoted, rude, and disrespectful. They were constantly bullying teachers, spa students, and even other highland students! More than 80% of the teachers I had could care less about what I was learning, and half of that barely cared if I reached a testing grade! Once my mother confronted the principal of my issue with AWFUL teachers, many of whom I know have had petition to fire and WEREN'T, the principal told her 'Highland's main priority is not education, it's to get everyone follow the rules." Highland High is not there to educate you, they are there to make the future generations stupid, unknowing, uninterrupted machines that will only excel in the one thing this school seems to care about, authority of the adults. Thank god I've graduated, because I had adults at this school say if I say bad things about the school, I will have my grades affected. DO NOT send your children here, and transfer if you do. This school is a joke that could care less about the outcome of your well being."
