"I like the school, yes we do have problems, and I am going to probably be stuck with them for the rest of the school year, I am also kinda jealous that all of the repairs will be finished the year after I am gone. Call me over-privileged because I know I am, but still. It would be nice not to be freezing during math and advisory, but I know that they are doing the necessary repairs and improvements. I do like the students here, and yes as many of the other reviews have said, this is an LDS dominated school, but I haven't seen any bullying. I do believe it is there, I just haven't been there to witness it. Which is probably good because I likely would have lost my temper. All-in-all I think it is a good school, I just could have had better timing in coming here. You know, when there isn't this much construction and confusion, and well, this many extra students. We are legitimately bursting at the seams."
"This is an amazing school and I would totally recommend it! Due to construction, it is no longer dark, and those of us who are LDS had absolutely no idea that non-LDS people did not feel included! I have always tried to be friends with everyone no matter what religion. If the topic of religion ever comes up, I listen to their point of view and then I give my own opinion about the topic. Overall, a great school with great staff!"
"I have four children who've attended MPJH, numbers three and four will finish there next year. I've found teachers and administration to be responsive to concerns, involved and informative, and generally interested in helping my children succeed. In volunteering at the school I've met a lot of considerate and well behaved young people, but I've occasionally heard students speaking in such a way that would make a sailor blush! Very good parent involvement and support. School is dark inside like some have said, and hopefully current remodel will help remedy that to some degree. LOVE that they're going to A/B day schedule next year, offering more realistic class time for projects (science lab, cooking, sewing, tech), but wish there were a few more elective class offerings, and more extracurricular options. Overall, I'd say we're fortunate to have such a good public school in our midst."
"Cannot rate the teachers or staff. I did visit the east grounds of the school. Very spacious. Plenty of space. Soccer fields, baseball diamond, track and plenty of parking. Yet there is still more room for other activities."
"I was not happy with this school. The office staff is very condescending. When my daughter was struggling, the only teacher who seemed to care was Mrs. Jones. Claire Cassity was also fantastic and tried to help. They are the reason for the extra star. But when I made the decision to homeschool my daughter, some teachers were downright rude. Why are you teaching children?? My daughter went back later to get some of her stuff she left there and was waiting for me to pick her up. They came out and made her walk to the nearby park to wait because it was a violation for non-students to be on the premises. Really, people? One day she's a student and the next day she's a potential threat? Ugh. I have one more daughter approaching Jr High age and she will not go to this school."
