"When we first brought Piper into Nebraska Dog Trainers, we were on the verge of getting rid of her, she was an 8 month old, completely uncontrollable, Golden Retriever. After 2 weeks with Collin, she a totally different girl, and today she's a very important part of our family! Keith & Kim Smith, Omaha"
"The 3 trainer's I have had personal contact and conversations with were nothing short of amazing. Friendly, easy to talk with and ready to answer all of my questions. When my dogs week of board and train was complete, the results were more than what I had hoped for. Can't say enough good things about Nebraska Dog Trainers."
"I found Nebraska Dog trainers online when looking for someone to help me test my newly adopted dog for the possibility of training to be a service dog for me in the future. I needed the intelligence assessment to be done by professionals and a neighbor had given me the name of other trainers in Omaha however, they were not taking more clients. I called Nebraska Dog trainers one weekend afternoon after looking at the website and facility on line. I just happened to get ahold of Lesley Thompson. We talked dogs for a couple of hours and found that we were aquatinted with mutual people. Lesley agreed that Moki should be assessed I agreed we would get start on a basic program as soon as he recovered from surgery and gained some weight. Moki came to me in June of 2021 a very young bedraggled stray that had been running in the area for months. A red and white is easy to spot but not always easy to approach, one day he showed up at a friend’s place just outside of town as a starving, bedraggled, pup maybe a little over a year old curled up in the sun by the woodpile just outside of the friend’s when first spotted they thought the dog had died there. There was no sign of movement when approached. However, JM just said you poor thing and the pup jumped up and wanted attention. They took him to a shaded area to be confined until a possible owner could be located. When the pup saw the pool for the goose he jumped in, splashed around, laid down and drank a bunch of water. Then he wanted food. JM stated he was surprised at how gentle the dog took food from the hand and how well-mannered the pup was even though he was a bag of bones with ticks all over his head and neck and a rough dry hair coat. It was obvious he had been on his own a while. They tried to find the owner for weeks calling the shelters and facilities but they were over full as it was the first summer after Covid that people could travel and so the pets adopted during the pandemic were surrendered for new homes. No shelter facilities were available, it was recommended to call the county Sheriff to come and get him. They starting calling anyone they thought could take the dog to keep him from being put down. They sent me a video of his happy demeanor showing him jumping, playing, and chasing bugs I knew instantly he could be a help to me. I took him home in late June of 2021. Named him Moki and started to work with him. Moki thrived and put on weight, was neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and microchipped as we could not find a chip or a previous owner to help claim him. Nebraska Dog trainers assessed him as very intelligent and capable of learning most trained behaviors required to be a support for me. I am an older person with physical restrictions and my assigned trainer "Betsy E" worked with Moki if I could not get his attention or handle his youthful exuberance. Betsy would take him through the procedure then coach and encourage me to do the same. The repetitions helped both the dog and I to work out the behavior that would make us a team. I live a distance away from the training facility and if the weather was not safe to drive rescheduling was not an issue. In every way they have been there for us. I have called for advice several times on specific issues. This last summer I broke my ankle just walking across damp grass it was a bad break requiring surgery and a very long time to heal. Moki has become incredibly instinctive to my needs and knows how to prevent me from stepping in an area or place I would lose my balance. I cannot wait to recover enough from my injuries to continue our training goal. All the trainers at the Nebraska facility have the knowledge and patients to help Moki be the support assistant I need to keep me active, functional, and working as long as possible."
"Shyra made sure we were updated on Sisko's training every day during his two week session. She took great care of my battle buddy with his initial obedience training and showing us how to build upon that foundation. I'm happy to say that Sisko is very close to finishing his Public Access training, the final step of his Service Dog training. This is in no small part to the outstanding training and support offered by Shyra and Nebraska Dog Trainers."
"Collin from Nebraska Dog Trainers did a professional and loving job helping us with our dog through in-home board and training. Collin addressed his obedience commands and separation anxiety ensuring future success. Within 2 weeks, our 8 month old dog mastered heel, recall, off leash walking and holding a place command. We are so happy with this experience, Thank you!"
