"The pompous waiter felt that he had to had to educate us on how to order. We are foodies who travel. The duck was bland and too breaded. From our experience, the beet salad was the best on the menu, but that is difficult to screw up. Pure waste of time and money."
"Fabulous French wine dinner. Each dish was perfectly plated and served. The care that the servers gave to each guest was applaudable."
"We really loved purchasing experience here. Each bite was divine, the service was great and the ambiance too. Dare I say it's my new favorite resturant? Yes I'll take it that far. Wonderful!"
"This was unique dining experience for me. They serve shared plates. You do get a diversity of different items that I would have normally not tried. The scallops were some of the best cooked scallops I have ever had. They certainly make use of every inch of space they have for tables. It wasn't totally cramped but very close. I have to say it was a pretty good experience but, I paid for it. If your looking to be full when you leave be ready to pay a lot of money."
"Restaurant Basque is worth making a reservation for. The wife and I decided to have a date night since the kids are out of town, and we couldn't have found a better place for it! Many of their signature cocktails are gin based, and the aromatics they use elevate what are already excellent offerings. We decided on the eggplant as an appetizer; lightly breaded and fried eggplant seasoned with lemon zest, honey, and a dash of salt. Of all the ways I have had eggplant, this is by far my favorite! For the entree, I ordered the smoked pork shoulder, while my wife ordered the scallops off the sharable menu. We ordered the butternut squash as a side. The pork shoulder is smoked perfectly, not at all over powering, and the broth and beans it is served in are perfectly matched to the dish. If I were to make a suggestion to improve the dish, it would be to bring out a spoon and/or some toasted bread to get at the delicious broth. The scallops were expertly cooked; not at all rubbery, and as soft as a marshmallow. The butternut squash we ordered as a side was roasted and seasoned to absolute perfection. We decided to have dessert; my wife ordered the poached pear in chocolate, and I ordered the 10 year tawny port. The pear was lovely, poached and covered in chocolate, stuffed with cream. As a transplant from the Pacific Northwest, I definitely appreciate welll cooked pears. The 10 year tawny port was a perfect after dinner drink; sweet with notes of cherry and fig. A truly delightful experience. I've been very fortunate to eat in a lot of great restaurants in Tulsa, but Restaurant Basque is definitely in my top 5 all time favorites. I hope people realize what a great food scene we have here, there are so many great experiences yet to discover."
