"This is simply the best restaurant in Tulsa. Freya is incredibly unique in the area, being the only high end Scandinavian restaurant for hundreds of miles. They deliver a wonderful blend of thoughtful, seasonally inspired dishes and their service staff is top notch. Michael took care of us and was able to answer all of our silly questions and offer great advice for both food and drinks."

"Went early on a Saturday evening without a reservation which made the experience weird. We walked in and only one other table was occupied, so it was not busy at all. We were asked if we had a reservation, upon us saying no we were responded with a "oh.." which made it seem like it was not ok. We asked if we could still be seated and the hostess responded with yeah it's fine, but then made sure to tell the other employees that we did NOT have a reservation as if we were branded with a scarlet letter. (We have dined many times in Seattle restaurants of this caliber that did not take reservations so we figured that standard carried over.) We went with the intention of trying their vegan menu as part of the vegan challenge. We started with the warm fall salad which was roasted and chard vegetables, fried sage, candied pecans and hummus. Unfortunately most of the vegetables were charred to the point of having a bitter taste, however the few that were not were delicious when eaten with the candied pecans. For entree, I really wanted to try the cornish hen, but it was unavailable so I went with the halibut, while my wife did the vegan entree, which consisted of seared trumpet mushrooms, truffled rutabaga mash, dill caper green beans, romesco, and pickled & toasted hazelnuts. My wife had mixed feelings on it and found the mushrooms rather difficult to cut up and eat. The halibut entree was amazing and is the sole reason the food in my review is rated at 3 stars. It really was a standout dish and highlighted why the price for the dish is so high. For dessert we tried the vegan offering which was a warm peanut butter & chocolate chip cookie, toasted (vegan) meringue, chocolate (vegan) ice cream & curried peanuts. This dessert was the definition of RICH. There is seldom a dessert that I cannot finish, but this one instantly sent me into a sugar rush to where I could physiologically feel my blood sugar spiking to the point I had to stop eating, but might not be the same for others. To finish off the dining experience, we noticed there was a "provisions" tax on our tab, but we were not offered any explanation of what or why it was charged. Overall, this will be a one time experience to say we at least tried but, but the odds of us coming back are slim. For the price of the meal there are plenty of other options out there. Finally, make sure you have a reservation so your overall experience does not start out weird making you feel like you do not belong."

"My first time trying a Nordic restaurant and I think I am officially a number one fan?! This place is a gem and a must if you come to visit Tulsa. We were looking for a place to dine with my husband since we have to come at least once a month for work and what an incredible find. We were super well treated by the staff and even the general manager was kind to talk and recommend things for us. We ordered oyster as appetizers, a Scandinavian Caesar salad with sourdough croutons that it was to die for, lamb chomps and my favorite.. one of the chefs special: the hasselback chicken. I just don’t have words to describe how amazing was everything but I can say it was one of those times that you eat so much but you feel afterwards satisfied and fulfilled. One of those times that you just can’t wait to have the same dish again, so we literally came back to eat here like two days afterward. Please visit is totally worth the experience:)"

"First time visiting this relatively new gem, and it was a fantastic experience across the board. The food is creative, unique, beautifully presented, and everything we had was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. We had cocktails as well that were excellent, and two desserts. Now, I'm not sure how "Nordic" this food really is. This could have been presented as a modern gourmet cuisine and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I couldn't discern themes of flavors or techniques that we normally associate with specific types of cuisine, the way we think of things like tomatoes, pasta, garlic, olive oil, basil, and mozzarella as being prominent in Italian cuisine. If someone asked me what made this food Nordic, I couldn't say. Does that really matter when the food is this good, though? Great ambiance (not overly loud or tightly packed like a lot restaurants) and prompt, friendly service brought it all together. Pricing is in line with what you'd expect from a modern high-end restaurant, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect to pay $100-$150 for a dinner for two, especially with soup/salad, drinks, and dessert. Portions are moderate enough that there were no leftovers; flavors were such that our plates were completely clean after every course. If I could nitpick anything, it's that the upbeat pop music that kicked on around 6:30 was a bit loud and not, you know, very Nordic. A Heilung-themed playlist might be asking a bit much, though. This experience was absolutely worth every penny, and I can't wait to go back! It's great to see more creative options here in T-Town."

"Birthday dinners for the wife on Christmas Eve used to be near impossible, but over the years we’ve been able to find a few places, notably other JT Group restaurants. We really appreciate the staff willing to work on a holiday, and the food they prepared and served on this occasion was particularly amazing. I had the prix fixe which (along with other items) came with wonderfully creamy mushroom risotto and Swedish meatballs with a lingonberry sauce that made everything taste even better. Wife had the elk chops which were unlike anything either of us have ever eaten anywhere in the best possible way. We ended the night with the butternut squash cake with goat cheese frosting — hands down one of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back."
