"Dined in before going to an event at the performing arts center. I ordered the taco platter and a house margarita, both of which were delicious. The chips and salsa were also great! The restaurant is a little loud, but nothing outrageous."
"The chips and salsa are fantastic. Slightly spicy salsa, but great flavor. Nothing to say about the food other than it was delicious. The drinks likewise were perfectly balanced. Service was quick, friendly, and knowledgeable."
"If you like the flavors and ambiance of the great southwest then you are going to love La Tertulia. The interior of the restaurant is like most of the architecture you will find in Santa Fe with adobe Pueblo stuccoed walls, copper covered tables and Indian artifacts and blankets throughout the restaurant. The service was outstanding. We never wanted for anything, he was knowledgeable of the menu, and friendly. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy but flavorful and not your typical Mexican restaurant style salsa and the chips were fresh and crisp. I had an out of this world blueberry margarita with mint. It was bursting with blueberry flavor and a minty refreshing finish. For my entree I couldn’t decide on just one thing so I went with the combination plate. I picked the carne asada soft taco. It was made with a homemade corn tortilla (which you don’t get very often) and tender steak. I had them cover my tamale and enchilada christmas style which in southwestern terms means you want both green and red chile sauces. Both sauces are definitely homemade and taste like nothing else you can get in this part of the country and the cheese, the cheese, a white, stretchy, salty Mexican mozzarella style. Yummy. The carne adovada is pork stewed in a sauce of ground dried chiles and again homemade and amazing tasting. My plate was finished with Spanish rice, pinto beans and posole. You can tell these were not just plate fillers all of them had great flavor. So if you want to taste the flavors of New Mexico save yourself the 600 mile trip and try La Tertulia you will not be disappointed."
"Probably the best Mexican food option in downtown. Shotgun style restaurant so it fills up quickly, we ate at the bar, which was pretty clean and tidy. The bartender and staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the chips and salsa, but will note the salsa is quite spicy, so it may not be for everyone but in my opinion it was very good. We got the layered enchilada and taco plate, both were excellent and very filling. You get the option of adding an egg on top of the enchilada which I thought was pretty unique, haven’t seen that anywhere else. Our drinks were pretty solid as well, we got the Cowboy and the old fashioned. I would say this is more of a date night/pre-event Mexican restaurant, it is a bit on the pricier side but really did enjoy the meal and will be coming back."
"Excellent New Mexican cuisine! We lived in New Mexico for over a year and missed the food so much. La Tertulia is now our go to restaurant for date night. I truly don't understand some of the one star reviews complaining about food quality, drink quality, prices, etc., their food is authentic New Mexican and it is delicious, the margaritas are some of the best in the area and made with fresh lime juice and fresh ingredients, the prices are what you should expect to pay for quality good. Hands down one of our favorite restaurants. Keep up the good work!"
