Pioneers Park Nature Center

"Free! As a life long resident I have grown up in Pioneers Park. The space is beautiful and has endless activities available including: Natural Prairies/plants, and Heritage school - a true Nebraska child/ public school right of passage. Also Walking trails, Restrooms (during warm months), fresh air, playgrounds, grilling areas, encounter/discovery center, picnic tables, ponds (no swimming) and animals. Just to name a few. Keep an eye on the Pinewood Bowl, great outdoor events with an occasional big name. Support local artists/performance. *** Don't forget to say "hi" (DO NOT DISTURB/FEED) the resident Buffalo heard in the back turn around. Truly magnificent."

"A wonderful place to take a hike. Lots of room to wander. The nature center has some great trails. Be wary of ticks as they like to hitch a ride to unwary travelers. Highly recommended."

"A classic Lincoln park. Pioneers Park has activities for anyone. There are trails for horse riding, a playground, a sledding hill, opportunities to see wildlife, hiking and biking trails, and nature centers to learn about Nebraska ecosystems. Although the park is widely visited, it's large enough that it never feels crowded."

"Fantastic nature preserve that I’ve been going to since I was a child. Recently went back after being away for almost a decade. Still gorgeous, still clean, still heaven on earth. My husband who doesn’t usually enjoy “rough nature” saw how well they kept the lands and fell in love as well. It was a dream to bring my son back here to have him see the one room school house I went to school in. So sweet."

"Not a whole lot here to see outdoors other than some free range bison and turkey vultures. The nature center was super cool. The boys got to see a few snakes up close. And all the animals that inhabit that area."
