"I wasn't sure what to expect with the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. We needed a place to pitch a tent for one night on a road trip, and this worked very well. The camp and entire park are well kept, the bathrooms were old but functional and clean. One complaint is the boys told me there was no soap or paper towels in the men's room, but there were soap and a hand dryer in the women's. The tent sites had grass at a good height and nice little picnic tables that seemed pretty new. We got in too late to make it to the zoo and splash pad, but the kids liked the playground and my husband and I enjoyed the nice new walking path and the views of the bluff and the river. The big downside was noise, when we first went to bed we could hear the nearby raceway, and you could hear the nearby traffic and occasional train (no horns). These weren't enough to keep any of us up, but they made it clear you weren't in the wilderness. Still, for a $10 stopping point, it was overall fantastic. I could also see coming here for a "step up from backyard camping" experience for a family, you could make a day of it with the zoo, disc golf, fishing, or other activities and have a place for a tent and fire in the evening. Not a place to go for a wilderness feel."
"Very nice camp host. Stayed an extra day to see the monument. Well worth it. Dog park nearby, playground, river walk. It was easy to get our 39' 5th wheel through the park and spots are level gravel. Beautiful spot, we will be back."
"09/09/21 - The hosts are nice and you get free firewood. The bathrooms were sort of clean but both men’s & women’s shower stalls were gross! There is a RV dump and garbage dumpster. The negatives I saw were the large amount of weeds and dead grass at each site and the horrible smell from the zoo next door that came by every time the wind blew. but for $25 for full hookups I’ll live!"
"Free wifi only works near host’s site, approximately 50ft. I camped out 100ft away and no wifi. You can hear train honking during the night, at least 6 times I remember. View is nice and free fire wood left at the campsite. Other campers were very quiet and no party."
"We stayed one night driving through. Looks like a mix of full timers and pass throughs. Also a mix of very new to very old campers. Easy to find and get into. Pull through sites. No problems with hook ups. Could not access free WiFi at all which was one of the reasons we picked this park. Park was very quiet. Not cramped at all. Disappointed in the tall weeds allowed to grow up into some sites. Looks like the front half of the park gets more attention. Front also has the tall shade trees. We were in the back half. We would stay again."
