"I called when my furnace wasn’t working properly and the nights were in the 40s. The lady was rude when I simply asked a question about charging travel time by the minute and not miles, and she explained it is $100 an hour for travel plus $100 minimum service fee regardless if they “find anything to repair”. She responded “I don’t need you telling me how to run my business”. I was surprised because I was being polite, but inquisitive, trying to understand the charges. You just can’t treat customers like this in a small town/rural area because your reputation is often what people go by. UPDATE: Your last sentence reads “truthful”?! Seriously? What were your exact words when I asked what the charge would be if they couldn’t find anything wrong? You said they could treat it as a maintenance charge of a minimum of one hour at $100 if you *didn’t “find anything wrong”. If that’s not exactly how you worded it, go ahead and correct me. Secondly, I NEVER told you “how to run your business” I simply asked about how you charged mileage, and I have hired many different people for different tasks over the decades and I have never had anyone be so rude simply because someone asks about your charges per minute of driving, which is the first time I’ve ever heard a company charge by time and not by mileage. Obviously it’s something you have been confronted on before judging by your quick defensive and rude response “I don’t need you telling me how to run my business”. Reviews are important these days whether you believe so or not. So hopefully you’ll take the constructive criticism and make some honest changes to the way you treat customers."

"We finally decided to have the old furnace repaired. He quoted $24k in costs for the high-end American standard furnace with heat pump. They then demand that I give them a $20k check to order the material. I have never heard of such moronic behavior. Then I was hung up on when I said no. After calling a number of HVAC companies Custer Heating and Air were the only ones who gave us an estimate quickly, were reasonably priced, and followed up with a phone call from Joe to discuss the quote. Carla in the office said they give priority to customers that don’t have heat, I was thinking maybe a week after speaking with everyone else. When I said, please proceed with the work, I asked if they need a credit card to pay for the bill. They said this wasn’t necessary. This was a total surprise and nice feeling of trust. They order the parts on Tues and I told Joe we would be there on Friday, Joe had the work done on Thrus for us to have a heated house when we arrived Thrus night! Also, when the bill was sent, it was slightly less than the estimate, which was a welcome surprise. They will have my business in the future. Thanks Custer Heating."
