"Outstanding historic hotel on route 66! Highly recommended for road trips, old movie fans, or anyone who likes unique and historic hotels! It was built as a base for movie filming in the 1940's and leans heavily into that in the decor. A historic building trying to look like an even older building. It works, charming. I don't know if it's got ac. Not an issue when we visited in March."
"On the way to California, I called earlier in the day and reserved a room for that night. It was easy to reserve a room and checking in was short and sweet as well. Staff is polite and the rooms really are clean and unique. I love this place and the western/historical background is truly special. Highly recommend staying here and going to the gift shop and trying their margaritas in the lounge during your stay. Price is worth it, their is also a restaurant but we didn’t have time for it on our stay."
"Our go to in Gallup. Such a cool place. Quaint rooms with comfortable beds. Clean rooms and friendly service. Way better than a big box hotel. Fun to wander the lobby area. It is actually the only hotel where we like to sit in the lobby. Plus restaurant/bar on site has great food and drinks"
"Super cute and I liked the new retro refit! Great location, comfy bed, very clean room, and wonderful soaps and shampoo. The climate control worked fast, appreciated the extra comforter, and the ginormous TV. And the staff was very friendly and helpful. My main issue was no microwave. I’d brought groceries with me from my previous hotel but had no way to cook them. Also while I loved the record player there was only one record! It would’ve been nice to have a selection, or maybe borrow some from the front desk. There was only a shower in my motel room, and I’m a bath lover. Will probably stay there again though."
"The "cool factor" is the history of this hotel. The food, although not eaten by me personally, was very appealing. The staff is pleasant and helpful, but not overbearing. Parking lot (as well as most roads) was in great need of resurfacing. Adequate parking was available at check-in. The entire hotel is in need of deep cleaning and updated carpeting, new cushions, and pillows. No need to eliminate the historic charm of the place, but it is definitely overdue of a lot of careful cleaning and attention to detail. Even the water feature in the dining area gives a sense of pond water instead of an attractive, clean, historic water feature with a story to tell. Go enjoy the deep history of a unique hotel, with amazing scenery nearby and imagine if those walls could talk!"
