Reviews of DLD Sycamore School
"Hello everyone I know it's been a long time but I wanna let you know that the more I think about how a long way I came from the more I think about my past the moreI have to tell you how much I miss you all. And I also wanted to tell you that I am a sophomore and I go to Volcano Vista high school, and threw out my year and a half of high school I have been in 2 high school plays Thoroughly modern millie, and Twelfth night Shakespeare. But any way before we go into more information on that, I would like to say a few words about my old friend Nick Drendel and about friendship I miss you man I hope that one day we will see each other again, through out the years of dld the kind of friend I was to Nick, I have another best friend right now who is a similar kind of person that I was to Nick, his name is Jarrod Arana I met him in Millie, he gave me a lot of friendly advice throughout the the two plays I did, he understands that I don't cuss, and what kind of person I am, and when I started to get to know him me and him had a lot in common, but for the most part he helps me in every way he can whenever I need it when it comes to drama, but now that I know I'll be in Drama class next year I know I will be able to do it on my own. The kind of friend I was to Nick was that I always cheered him up when he was depressed, I made him laugh, I encouraged him, I supported him, and I loved him as a friend. So you can see that it makes a little connection. Any way back to the my educational history my freshman year was a lot to take in, but I was prepared there were a lot of things I had to get used to and I faced a lot of challenges, choices, and changes, but I have preserved, and I still am today especially when I did shakespeare this fall in 2016 it was tough, but I pulled it off and never gave up. I know that you all know me as a baseball player, but I quit baseball now I do theater. I would like to say thank you to all of my teachers. Thanks Mr. Hartman, Ms. Battle, Ms. Caffery, Ms. Fleming, and Ms. McMurray for helping me grow up and finding my own place and for me preparing for my future"
"So, apparently we have heard the "truth" from others. I have been going to this school for 5+ years and I can safely assure all of you that this is not the truth. Falsely providing negative information isn't exactly becoming nor will it better any of the people who provide it. This school is an amazing place of learning and patience overall. The teachers try their best with every child invididually. The reason that the teachers cannot give their entire all is because our school is divided among about 50 students in total. Bigger schools with a bigger amount of students also have a lot more teachers. Our teachers try their best and to this day I cannot imagine why somebody would say our teachers are in "poor quality", because that is inexorably untrue. From the beginning of my time at DLD until now we have always gotten direction and guidance in our work. If there is any reason one would have "no clue" to what they were doing in work, maybe it was due to them falling asleep during class and drooling all over the table or not paying attention in general. As for "playjng favorites", how does that even matter? That shouldn't be a point as we are all here to learn, not to be a "favorite" to an adult whose job is to teach us and draw the line right there. That just proves who is dramatic. Anything extra such as guidance in personal life or general comfort is a LUXURY that the school has provided us entirely. There are several people to talk to, not just including the teachers but also the lovely staff in the office as well. Sometimes the work is under "grade level" because not all of the children can work AT grade level. Keep in mind that this school specializes in helping kids with learning disabilites!! As for hardworking and dedicated, let's not forget the multitude of incidents where there was work being done in class and one was sleeping facedown in one's desk. As for college classes, we all have started now at Junior/Senior year, and almost all of us are already done with the Fall semester, thanks. The children in this school are not delinquents. If anything we behave better than public high schools, as I have witnessed firsthand children from these other schools and I cannot even begin to compare how well behaved we are compared to them. We are not a school of outcasts, as most of us weren't cast out from anywhere, we simply were able to attend an amazing school from the beginning. We are not outcasts simply because we have learning disabilities. We should not be defined by things we cannot help. There are no social groups. The only thing is anyone who comes in and treats one of us badly and rudely will find themselves subject to being ignored, as with any school. Nobody likes being treated bad. If anyone was a bully, well, from what I've seen, and witnessed being in school with a certain someone I'd say it wasn't anyone but them. The only reason why you've received a less than adequate treatment is because of YOUR attitude. The teachers felt they needed to have more restraint. Another option was to bring lunches. We are a small school and have limited staff, we cannot cook 5 star meals every single day to appeal to everyone. We do our best. Bringing lunches was an option from the beginning. The tuition is high because we have a great quality of teaching. The school is not for everyone who cannot afford it or doesn't need its services and obviously some people are too stuck up to realize that this school is exactly what they needed."
