About the Business
Wheatland School is an educational institution located in the unincorporated community of Wheatland in Quay County, New Mexico, United States. The school was established in 1920 through the consolidation of several one-room schools in the area. The original school building was unfortunately destroyed by a fire in 1938, but was replaced by a new school and gymnasium constructed by the WPA. These new buildings, made with steel reinforcement and colorful rock from a nearby quarry, served as a school until the early 1950s before being repurposed as a community center. Today, Wheatland School stands as a reminder of the rich history and dedication to education in the area.
