"I feel for any parent who has to resort to this place for their child."
"This place is a joke. I went to see a doctor there for extreme anxiety, the doctor told me that I needed to be placed in the psych ward, remind you I was not having suicidal intentions, and was not going to bring harm to others or myself. I told them that being placed would make my anxiety skyrocket but instead they told me to leave and pulled my mother in and lied about everything I said to the doctor making me seem like I wanted to throw my life away. I had trusted this doctor to finely help me, find different ways to cope other than drugging me with multiple meds and being placed. But all this doctor seemed interested in was placing me in the psych ward, they seemed they didn’t want to talk or anything, they heard a little bit and jumped to conclusions without speaking or hearing what I needed to say. They were rude and disrespectful seemed like i was taking up their precious time. Going to see a new doc soon there I really hope they are not like this and actually listen for a change.!"
"It was hell..BUT except for the male nurse in charge when I was admitted, who was brutish towards me, which frightened me even more...the loving and kind staff made hell bearable...counselors were great...when I had so little kindness before I got there. You get there in traumatic shock, unused to institutional living...a bed that is just a wooden box...no colour or texture or comfort in surroundings..no freedom..no fresh air..."
"My brother has serious mental issues and keeps having to come here over and over and we have told them numerous times he needs serious help and they just discharge him out to the streets to be homeless! The mission doesn't allow him back and he's a safety issue to stay with any family. This time we explained once more and had little hope of them sending him to Yankton or a better facility but nope they let him out again. If I could give 0 stars I would. People with serious mental issues deserve better help then this. Shame on this place."
"My son was in here for a weekend. He is type 1 diabetic and I thought his medical needs would be addressed as well as getting help mentally. It is a hospital staffed by medical professionals after all. Instead they removed his insulin pump when I told them they couldn't and then didn't give him any insulin for 4 hours and waited 16 hours to give him his long acting insulin. He told the staff his blood sugars were high and they refused to let him check his blood sugar or receive insulin more than 4 times a day, despite me telling them he needed it more to be well controlled. We checked him out early because his blood sugars had been over 400 for 2 days and he had ketones in his urine. It was an awful and useless experience for everyone."
