Custer YMCA Child Development Center

The Custer YMCA Child Development Center, located at 1315 Bluebell Lane in Custer, South Dakota, is a state-licensed child care program that operates year-round for children ranging from 2 months to kindergarten age. Our programs focus on providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore and learn through developmentally appropriate activities.

We believe in fostering a cooperative experience between the child's education and family involvement, ensuring that the daycare is an extension of the home rather than a substitute for it. Our goal is to help individuals grow personally, learn values, improve relationships, appreciate diversity, become better leaders, and most importantly, have fun.

Our infant program is centered around the child's schedule, with activities that include playtime, art, motor skill development, music, outdoor excursions, naps, and plenty of love and care from our staff. The Jungle program for children aged 4 to 5 offers a semi-structured environment with activities focused on art, language, motor skills, self-help, music, sensory exploration, science, and outdoor play.

In our preschool environment, children experience a combination of structured and free-choice activities that encourage their overall development. Our caring staff facilitates activities in areas such as art, music, math, science, social/emotional skills, language and literacy, and outdoor experiences like bike riding, gardening, and water play.
