"I choose this place because It has plenty of parking, and if you're lucky with your room, you can see Mount Rushmore from the hotel. Their rooms are good, clean, and yes, they have a Bible. Pros: Ice machines, heated pool, free breakfast, mini fridge, microwave, balcony. Cons: The rooms coffee pot malfunctioned. The AC only worked for a few minutes at a time. The shower curtain doesn't close all the way. Whoever painted their rooms sucked."
"This hotel looks nice from the outside and it’s convenient to Mount Rushmore. But, needs a major overhaul in the common and room areas. Room - curtains hanging off of rod. Bed skirt too long; trip hazard. Common areas the carpet is so worn and dirty; you don’t feel comfortable eating in the breakfast area. Until this place gets a major renovation, I would not recommend."
"We stayed here while seeing Custer Park. Kinda far away but not terrible. The hotel staff were good, but they could use a third person at the desk... The phone was ringing constantly so there was just one person to check people in... Be patient they have a hard job. The pool and hot tub looked good, but we didn't use them. The rooms are big and cleaned well. There is a nice fire pit area outside, and you can get a little view of Rushmore from there. Breakfast: The eggs - terrible, biscuits - very good, sausage - kinda dry, juice - good."
"What you see in the pictures of a queen size room and the room we got are two complete different things. This was the smallest queen room I have ever seen in my life. It was very strangely configured. In order to watch TV, I had to lean over to where my husband was lying on the bed. Room was clean, but the carpeting is very old and outdated. The bathroom? The bar that holds the shower curtain was very rusted and hanging low. It took forever for the water to turn warm. The room we got was right next to the pool so that was an issue because the lights were on. It wouldn't have been so bad but the curtains didn't exactly filter out all the light. And fair warning, the place is up on a steep hill. There were many people walking down the hill to get food and then of course back up it. Parking is an issue as well. If you are on a charter bus, you are not going to have any transportation to go downtown. So be prepared to climb the hill. The overlook was very nice though."
"Overall we were really impressed by this hotel. We are locals, so we never really take the opportunity to stay locally. We had a room with a jacuzzi and a balcony which faced the hills, and you could see Mount Rushmore from our room. The bed was harder than many I've stayed in, and the pillows very soft, so I (personally) struggled to sleep a little; for others that might be a preferred combination. For being so busy (it looked full), the hotel was really quiet. There was a patio outside with fire pits for guests to enjoy, as well as a pool and hot tub (we did not use any of these though). Breakfast was included, and good. We were down around 7:00 (breakfast starts at 6:30), and they were out of coffee and several breakfast items, though I'm sure they refilled at some point. My only real complaint was the jacuzzi in our room - it worked fine, but when we woke up the next morning and looked in the tub, there was some type of brown dirt or something all around the bottom of the tub. It wasn't there when we started, and there was bubbles in the tub when we used it, so we didn't see it at the time, but all I can think of is that it might have come out of the jets when we turned them on."
