"These people really care. It may not seem like it to an addict like me who thinks everyone is against them but I was able to see their love and passion for doing whatever it takes to help a broken man like me. I don’t know how to love but I’m realizing that it looks very different than I have believed. So many people have forgiven me and given me many chances even when I rejected their help. I am thankful. The thing that’s been keeping me from freedom is me. I hope that God kills this man and lets me live in the truth of who I am. I was jealous today of all of you who get to work together to try and rescue addicts. I wanted to be part of it."
"If you can avoid here, do. Disorganized, understaffed, no nurse to distribute correct meds, no subox on hand for people kicking. No smoke breaks, no place to lounge outside for any amount. No counsler to assist people with resources...stay away."
"It's been almost 5 years since I was here, but I wanted to share my experience in the hope of helping others. Both times, I was taken here involuntarily. Compared to Denver Cares, this place is smaller and quieter. There are only a few beds per room and the lights can go off. There are restrooms in each room, so the most you're sharing with is 5 or 6. They do have an outdoor area and should let you go out for a few if you ask. I never really ate because I was detoxing obviously. There's just nothing to do. It's so boring. There is just one small television set and a few hard plastic chairs. There is a computer, but you have to wait your turn. I don't remember very many books or magazines. It's just sooooo boring. Detox is never fun and never a pleasent experience. However, if you're lucky enough to have private insurance, I would definitely look for somewhere you can medically detox and have more activites for you to do during your stay. I recommend The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake. Either way, sometimes it takes an experience like being taken to detox, especially involuntarily, to make you stop and think if this is the direction you want to take your life or if you're ready to choose another path."
"This should be your very last choice! While the staff was kind, it looks and smells like an old yucky building. Cinderblock walls… and a tv. 1 small tv with a few hard plastic chairs. And do not get fooled, this is only a place to be to detox. There are no activities or therapy. And of course no meds. Hell, you can’t even go outside for fresh air or a smoke!!! If anything, a place like this will make you want your substance of choice more! I don’t do reviews, but this was such a disappointment I feel like others need to not waste their time. Good luck out there!"
