"The Good: - If you get the right person (and actually get through to SPEAK to a person), you'll have an ok experience. I have had some staff go out of their way to assist me after being stuck in what felt like an endless loop of phone calls, transfers, correspondence, etc. - At the very least most of the staff have been kind, even if they are unable to help. The system itself is needlessly complicated/confusing and I would imagine understaffed, and I imagine that impacts the workers and the type of interpersonal interaction you might have. The Bad: - If you don't have the time or ability to make a phone call and sit on hold for an hour or more, good luck getting any kind of assistance. I haven't found the website to be very helpful/intuitive so it feels the only way to get help is to call directly, which is extremely limiting to most people. - The "Find a Provider" tool is outdated in my experience. I was seeking care for a specific issue that required a referral from a *specific* type of provider. Using the tool, I was only able to find find a few providers - most didn't exist anymore, leaving only two existing options. One of these wasn't even a healthcare provider, but a medical supply company in Phoenix, AZ?? The only existing provider I found didn't even treat my condition. This, of course, required calling CO Access directly, and sitting through the previously mentioned lengthy wait time. - I've often been bounced back and forth between Health First and CO Access. Health First tells you CO Access should be able to help - you call CO Access only for them to tell you that, actually, they can't help and you should call Health First. You spend an unreasonable amount of time being transferred back-and-forth, back-and-forth, etc. and no one will have the answer to your question. I usually end up having to ask my PCP to help me find a provider within network instead, even for services that don't require a referral. I can appreciate the purpose behind these "care coordination" entities like CO Access, but getting the help you need feels nearly impossible at times. I am fortunate enough to have the time, ability, computer knowledge, etc. to navigate the system and *even I* have a hard time getting anywhere with it. I don't understand how anyone who is limited in resources and time is able to navigate/coordinate their care. It's unacceptable that this organization and its tools are almost completely inaccessible to the population that relies on it. And they wonder why so many people utilize the ER/urgent care for primary care!"
"This has been a daunting experience trying to find a doctor in Aurora that takes new patients with Colorado access plans. It has been nearly impossible. Not a single doctor in the area is taking new patients. My old doctor is in Denver and I was trying to find something closer so I wouldnt have to go out of the way for appointments and also I was not happy with the care at the old doctor. Not a single person from Colorado access or health first Colorado has been able to help me with this issue. All the listed providers they have are outdated and not accepting any new Colorado access patients. UPDATE TO THEIR RESPONSE: I called several times. The last time I called they basically said there was nothing they could do to help me if providers near me aren't taking new Colorado Access patient's. So theres that. Contacting your office again will be another waste of time for me as I have already done it several times like I said."
"UPDATE: This is Franci Greenberg. I have spent about 4 years since my extreme losses, ie: death of my dad who was my full time caretaker and best friend, loss of my home and loss of ALL stability I have had including my health gains of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome RSD to be spun around by this particular system, COA. My dad was laughed at as he died of a heart attack after his oldest daughte, my older sister who was a narcissist swindled us out of our home savings. The now director, who I came to believe in but have no real understanding of why because she laughed with my then case manager Paula Yung saying my dad was like a "cobbler with no shoes." I don't wish this on anyone. I know jamie has a demanding job. But Jamie, my dad was the controller ( manager) of the State of Colorado Revenue Dept for over 30 years. His work ( never missed a day) and his education impeccable. His job was demanding as well. He treated people of Colorado with respect behind their back as well as in front of them. AND AT ALL TIMES. How do you act so kind to him and yet do this on the flip side? My dad wasn't paid his last year of caregiving and hcpf along with Colorado Access dragged my claim and complaints out. I was sent to dept of labor and employment JUST after statute of limitations ran out. Now on to an attorney as I still don't have a home or anything stable. Paula told me to call APS. Why didn't Paula? She's a social worker. I realize that prior to January 22, 2020, I was your and everyone's equal. I was handling my disabled life well. Then right after that fateful day, this organization has a pattern of needing to take down people who are suffering. Perhaps not all and perhaps you have some good people. But it was HERE where i realized that i had to fight for my life vs grieve my dad and my losses. That, to me is a horrible way to treat human beings. For Kellen Roth to say my dad no longer exists two weeks after his death was as cruel as a snake. This is the place for help and a soft spot to land? I could only believe that in my dreams. Reality has shown me differently. I don't want what's now left of my life, ( very little) as I spent it going in circles and believing in what I was told which was not truthful, in anger and resentment. I was told by a group member that a certain man needed his job. He didn't do several things correctly. I would have had a voucher now had he done so. It gets OLD putting others lives way ahead of mine to this extent. I doubt you would be able to find a way to live your life having others lives and existence mean far more than you or your COA people to the point of you not being able to have yours. THIS WAS NOT PROFESSIONAL. IT WAS CRUEL. YOU HAVE TO DO FAR BETTER. Let this be my strong heart felt message to COLORADO ACCESS. Sincerely, Franci Greenberg"

"Today I received a template letter from my so called case manager, stating she has been trying to reach me. I haven't heard from my so called case manager since I left a message with a supervisor back in March. This company doesn't care about the members They don't assist in anyway what so ever. If you need help you're SOL! I'm still waiting for testing supplies five and half months into the new year."
