Capitol City

"There's a couple of buildings that are still intact, but we didn't want to trespass. There's a lot of private property in the area, so we didn't explore the area. It's a quick stop off the Alpine Loop, a great area full of history."

"Certainly not worth a detour on its own, Capitol City does have a few historic buildings if you are already on the Alpine Loop. People still live in the area so it is by no means a ghost town like nearby Animas Forks."

"Not much more here than a couple of buildings, and most of the land around seems to be private, so we felt uncomfortable exploring and missed the brick kilns. Was hoping for a few more ruins, but Animas Forks still more than made up for what little was here. (Plus you can't beat the scenery.)"

"Couple original buildings. People have bought up the property around the ghost town, so you pretty much have to look from the road."

"Love the drive and the view! Note- the entry access road from Ouray off of the Million Dollar Highway to the Alpine Loop is ADVANCED 4 WD...it is crazy technical. Go around to Silverton unless you have a lifted rig"
