"Fantastic and prompt service! The commercial oven at our bakery stopped working, and they very quickly sent a professional to diagnose the issue and rush order a new part, which was installed the next day. Not only was the part replaced, but the very knowledgeable technician rewired our oven so the issue causing the part to fail wouldn't recur. An excellent experience that really helped out our business! Exceptional customer service! Update: We also had a commercial refrigerator acting up a couple months later, and the technician (Aaron) had it serviced in no time! He really went above and beyond, and we appreciate his help and expertise. Great experience with Five Star both service times!"
"We've done business almost exclusively with this company for general restaurant repairs for over a year now since this company was formed, from two off-shoots (former employees of Hawkins Commercial Appliance Repair). The first 9 months were phenomenal, but the last few (specifically this last month) have left a lot to be desired and we've reached the point where we no longer trust and no longer want any of their technicians in our restaurant. Why should you not do business with this company, I'll give you several reasons why: 1. Lack of communication and followthrough - try scheduling an appointment and worse, try having them order a part for you (which i'll get into detail about lower) 2. Over-scheduled and under-staffed (technician wise). Take our word on this one - there have been three specific instances instances in the last 2 months where they didn't even show up at all and/or "forgot" and we had to call and track down the technician, who then immediately diverts blame to the Owner (John and/or Joe) or secretary (Krista) for over scheduling and not providing enough technicians to fully complete calls. Just to be clear on this one because it's important - THEY DON'T FULLY DIAGNOSE the issue, they simply plug and play different parts they think are the issue and tell you they'll order them for you and sometime at a later date return with the parts AND CHARGE ADDITIONAL SERVICE CHARGES to re-fix what they never fixed in the first place :( Too bad you don't get a call from them - you have to track them down and re-schedule the follow-up to "fix" what wasn't "fixed" before ...I have service records from bun toasters which I can provide upon request which clearly shows how the technicians contradict one another and just get you to order a part so they can get onto their next job as quickly as they can - and admittedly so as technician John likes to boldly proclaim. How else can he meet the demand of the over scheduled client list? Seriously, three separate invoices from one bun toaster in less than an 6 week period - each time toaster was "fixed". But each follow up visit it's a new part and more drive time and service time they attempt to get you to pay. 3. Markup of parts, solely for pure profit - I literally heard this from the owner's mouth himself after calling him out when he tripped on his tongue and let me know "all service companies do this, that's how we make a living"? Am I missing something, excuse me? I'm paying over $95 per hour for drive time which is the same rate I'm being charged to repair/fix/diagnose/troubleshoot whatever the machine is I originally called about. Should you call them out after normal hours or weekends (Saturday is OT), that price jumps to over $145 per hour for drive-time and service-time. These guys are not hurting for money, I assure you. Leadership, honesty, & integrity are things they are in desperate need of. 4. Child-like behavior and intimidation plus disrespect of female employees in my restaurant - Several weeks ago we called because our soup pot stopped responding. When we asked the technician as to an ETA, we were told originally later afternoon probably between 4-5pm. What happens that same day at noon on a Friday - literally the busiest time of and day for ours and most Chick-fil-A Restaurants...technician strolls in and attempts to start working on the soup warmer, unannounced. This was a huge surprise to us and not one call from the secretary or tech to say they changed the service time and were OTW. We politiely asked the technician to leave and he threw a temper tantrum because we wouldn't let him touch the equipment and asked him to come back later like he originally said. Not only was he disrespectful to two Team Members, he crossed the line with a kitchen manager and we asked the tech to leave, immediately. FYI this female manager is probably 105lbs and John wants to get loud and raise his voice with her and try to intimidate her - real tough guy huh? Idk about you guys, but I'll take my business elsewhere. Hope you all do the same!"
