"Brought two shoes in for repair on a Friday, nothing major. Paid $50 in advance. Was told they would be ready in a week. Came back 8 days later and no one had any idea where my shoes were. Seems they had experienced a tragedy: a suicide an illness among those doing the repairs. Ok, I totally understand. Was told to wait for a call. Another week passes—no call. I stop by and check again: no one can tell me where my shoes are. I wait a third week—still no call, no apology for the wait. I go to store again. Am told shoes will be ready by end of day. I leave name and phone number. Day ends, no call. Three days later I call and hallelujah, my shoes are done. I come pick them up, no one at the front counter. I see them laying in a bucket and point them out to owner who retrieves them. No apology. I understand this was a terrible circumstance, but all I was expecting was some basic courtesy over the course of 17 days waiting past when shoes were supposed to be done. I won’t be back."

"Quick resolution but ask for the price in advance. I took a belt that needed a new buckle tongue, they simply swapped it from a discarded buckle they had (no sewing, gluing etc required - a piece of metal taken from one and placed on another, 3min max labor). It cost me $15. Belt had cost me $20. I didn't ask for the price, they didn't tell me either. Good to have a shoe repair shop around but at this rate (I calculate $300/h), maybe not worth it."
