"Nice apartments as far as looks, but there are several issues. First are all the fees. You have an application fee, another "administrative" fee of $300, a deposit, mandatory "valet" trash/recycling service $40 per month, which is stupid, people can throw out their own trash if you provide a dumpster for trash and one for recycling. Then rent and parking. They led us to believe that all utilities were included in the rent, then after move out, we found out that they aren't. Maintenance issues do not get fixed, and half of the lights are burned out in the hallways. Here is an example for one 70 year old elderly man for June. Rent $2,142, Parking $75, Valet trash $40 (that is the charges we knew about upon his move in). Then when trying to figure out what they did after move out, found all these extra MONTHLY charges - $6.00 service fee for the privilege to pay rent through their online system (which they require), $22.41 for sewer (for ONE month, for one man that lived alone, NEVER once cooked at the apartment, and did 4 loads of laundry per month), $33.44 for gas (in JUNE - he never cooked a single meal in this apartment the entire stay and did one load of laundry a week and certainly was not using the heater in June or May), $9.99 trash (on top of the $40 above), $9.58 water, $5.00 electricity. In addition, there are no statements or invoices you can print out with any explanation of the endless charges on your account. I had to find all this by scrolling through 16 pages of 1-3 word line items for 5 months of charges and writing them down. They don't send you a final statement with explanations when you move out. No move out sheet explaining the $65 in "damages" they found (only one nail was put into the wall in the entire two bedroom apartment and I have photos of the condition of the space on move out which was fully cleaned by two people) and the $175 cleaning fee (again the unit was fully cleaned upon move out, but was not clean when moved in with debris and dust all over the laminate flooring - I have photos of that too). The sliding door lock was broken from day one and the entire time and was never fixed even though it was brought up to management more than once. The only thing I know of was a few slats of the sliding door vertical blinds that fell off, but I know exactly how much those cost as a previous facility and construction project manager. Now, we just found a "collection" on the credit report (6 months after move out) for $105 after they kept the entire security deposit for all their fees. We never got a bill, no snail mail, no email, no invoice, no phone call in 6 months and no statement online to figure out what this is for. I am his POA and I get all of his snail mail, read all of his email, review all of his phone calls due to him now having dementia. They claim they sent an email, but we keep everything and it was not received. How do you send something to collections when you never send a bill? And even if you claim you sent a bill once, why was there NO follow up mail, email, phone call? We have never had a negative item on the credit report. If they had sent an actual bill with an explanation, it would have been paid immediately. After going on Credit Karma to try to find out what this negative reported item was after getting a post card from a credit reporting agency, it said North Main at Steel Ranch. I called and the girl in the office couldn't explain what it was for either. She's supposedly going to send another email and then told me I have to deal with the collections company to get this removed. I'm going to contact the Better Business Bureau and DORA as well, and have my lawyer go over the lease and the charges they have claimed. Like I said, the apartments themselves are nice, but be sure to budget $300 extra monthly on top of the rent they advertise, plus $1000+ for move in and move out charges if you plan to live here, and don't expect to get any explanation for anything they charge you for."
"North main at steel ranch was great, The staff from the very beginning were so friendly and gave us a tour around the property. Showed us all the great amenities they offer as well as there very updated modern 2 bedrooms. They provided all the available apartments and pricing and even gave us a gift for touring. They don’t have personal garages but they do have underground garages that are secure. Definitely considering moving here soon!"
"These apartments and the property in general really feel like home. I was glad that I had visited this property first, because it allowed me to say no to every other property that I visited, until I saw one that I really loved in Boulder, and I prefer to live in Boulder. So I won’t be moving in, but should the one in Boulder not have worked out, I would be moving in with you."
"Generally it was a very positive experience. The pool, coffee and free beer were nice additions. The staff were great, very friendly and always responsive to any requests. Also great location to old town Louisville."
